Kermit 1st Gear September 25, 2006 Share September 25, 2006 With that budget, I believe you are referring to active-subs? Otherwise, you may have luck with passive subs with a slim form factor (can fit under the seat). Anyone care to recommend a decent active sub around that price range? Maybe someone who is using an active sub currently can help?

Whitepowder Neutral Newbie September 26, 2006 Share September 26, 2006 (edited) [ This thing cost $280 with installation. At this price, I would say the sound is value for money. Edited September 26, 2006 by Whitepowder
Ilovesupremo Neutral Newbie September 27, 2006 Share September 27, 2006 My bro just installed one Focal K series 5" sub at the centre console. It sound fine. I feel it will be great if 2 are installed. Defintely good upfront bass..
Ivan0507 Neutral Newbie September 27, 2006 Share September 27, 2006 if u installed the sub correctly at the rear boot,u also can feel bass from the front seat.even you can feel your front seat vibrating like hell.
Biccat Neutral Newbie September 27, 2006 Share September 27, 2006 I am interested to audition it. Can you provide me with the shop which retails this?
Ilovesupremo Neutral Newbie September 27, 2006 Share September 27, 2006 Of course. The 5" Sub is for those with miserable small boot space or they dun want give up the boot space. But it is a good investment for daily listening. Bear in mind, they can never go as low as a 12" sub..

Kwongwing Neutral Newbie September 27, 2006 Share September 27, 2006 Wei Bro, Got any links to a website for more info? I went to the Focal website and could only find only info on minimum 10" sub-woofers. Must be looking at the wrong place Thanks!
John Neutral Newbie September 27, 2006 Share September 27, 2006 Of course. The 5" Sub is for those with miserable small boot space or they dun want give up the boot space. But it is a good investment for daily listening. Bear in mind, they can never go as low as a 12" sub. ----------------------------------------------------- within the limited confines of a car, how low can the frequencies go? the wavelengths of low frequencies are very very long, bear in mind. so the assumption that a 12" driver gives lower frequencies than a 5", is not always true. what is true is that it has the ability to move much more air & as a result, sound much louder. a good low frequency driver is essential, without which music will sound overly bright, thin and without scale. bad and wobbly low frequencies will mask and cloud whatever fine details, transparency and soundstaging of the music. a good, single 8" driver would be ideal. it gives decent amount of low frequencies, enough for any rational listening, and all else being equal, an 8" will produce tighter low frequencies with more definition than a 12". ↡ Advertisement
