I've managed to tweak my TA setting to bring the out the staging but I am at a loss at crossover issue. [confused] I dont exactly know which setting to select and afraid of risking to burn my speakers if select wrongly. I am running 2 way active and my P80 HU crossover offer these setting:

Low LPF: 25Hz, 31.5Hz, 40Hz, 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160Hz, 200Hz, 250Hz

Slope: 36, 30, 24, 18, 12db/oct,

Mid HPF: 25Hz, 31.5Hz, 40Hz, 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160Hz, 200Hz, 250Hz

Slope: 6, 12, 18, 24 db/oct

Mid LPF: 1.25k, 1.6k, 2k, 2.5k, 3.15k, 4k, 5k, 6.3k, 8k, 10, 12.5k

Slope: 6, 12, 18, 24 db/oct

High HPF: 1.25k, 1.6k, 2k, 2.5k, 3k.15k, 4k, 5k, 6.3k, 8k, 10k, 12.5k

Slope: 6, 12, 18, 24 db/oct

Here's my system specs:

Speaker

Sensitivity: 91db

Frequency Responce: 42-24

NOM/MAX: 150/300W

Fs (Hz) : 51

4ch Amp

75 x 4 @ 4Ohm stereo

Frequency Responce: 10-50KHz

Apline active subwoofer SWD1600

Crossover: 60-160Hz

Need some advise here to help me to set the correct crossover setting or tell me which is the safe setting to avoid burning of speakers. [sweatdrop]

Thanks!! [:)]

Yes, I am trying different setting but just afraid that I might burned the speakers if set wrongly. Based on the specs, which are the safe range to play at? At least I could avoid the danger zone. [idea]

interesting leh .. i'm curious what guru User12343 deleted from his 2 posts!

anyway, u have a lot of specs there but

1) wats the speaker brand, model

2) have u found its webpage

3) what does it say about the speaker regarding frequencies it plays

4) it might even recommend u a crossover point

simple?

You have actually not posted the specs most required for setting x-over settings for the 2-way component spkrs - the frequency response for the individual drivers, and the original x-over points.

In which case the thing is to use "safe" settings as a start.

For your tweeters: use High HPF: 2.5 or 3.15 KHz with slope setting at 18 or 24 db/oct

For your mid-bass: use HPF 50 - 100 Hz depending how much your driver can take, with slope setting at 12 or 18 db/oct;

LPF 2 or 2.5 KHz with slope setting at 6 or 12 db/oct

Hi bro Hyun and KW, the speakers is Diamond audio S600s. I couldn't find what is the freq response for individual driver. However the general freq response is stated as 42Hz - 22,000Hz.

It did not state down the original crossover point for the speaker but according to the manual, there are 3 crossover setting for tweeter (+2dB , 0dB , -2dB).

The manual can be found here:

Just use the settings I have recommended and tweak from there onwards to your listening preference.

The settings you have quoted are in fact settings on the passive crossover block to adjust the gains / attenuation for your tweeters - they do NOT apply for your active setup.

the Fs of your tweeter is either 1500hz or 1600hz... i suggest you run your tweeter until about 3.15khz and slope them off -12. since u're running active u can mute off ALL other speakers and just listen to tweeters alone.

compare that with 3.15khz slope -18, and 2.5khz slope -18 or -24.

just listen for the lower frequencies and see if there's distortion. if no distortion, stick to 2.5khz. any lower u might find more obvious distortion. u can try if u want (2khz) but better stick to a steep slope of -24 or bigger number but ... not very wise lah.

this tweeter wasn't really designed to go below 3khz much.

oh ya, and if u want u can bring down the crossover on wednesday, see if we can operate on it, hehehe... no lah. just take a look. see what freq they set. maybe can guess.
