Steering Wheel Ratio

I've got a silly question.

Why aren't steering wheels built to a turning ratio of 1:1?

E.g. If you turn the Steering wheel of the car 90 degrees, the wheel should turn 90 degrees as well.

Wouldn't a car like that be easier to drive?

Just wondering.... [angel]

rather , it require a more steady hand to handle your car at higher speed.

mean high risk of going into longkang for nothing.

:)

avoid danger don't need turn too much one lah. right?

wah like tt i dig my nose with my left hand and the weight of my right hand of about 3kg, shifts the wheel down 5cm and taking into account the diameter of my stock steering wheel, it would move clockwise 2 degrees, my wheels would the turn out 2 degrees to the right? So if im on the expressway at 100km/h, or rather at 27m/s... my car will shift to the right at 3.5m/s... so effectively ill do a lane change just by digging my nose [rolleyes][rolleyes][rolleyes]

in addition to the dangers. have you parked a car without power steering... imagine that while needing even more force.

Btw, the power steering would need to be pretty darn massive to handle that and the elect power steering motors cant get enough power from the batt to allow that kind of ratio.
