Yup, my experience at bukit batok vicom also feels like they know sh*t.

Never close door want to rev and drive off, car immediately put itself into park, with an extremely violent jerk.

Try one time cannot, what do you do? Of course is repeat the same thing again.

Gearbox don't spoil also difficult.

If not oligopoly, vicom sure cannot survive.

I told them off before for something similar. Was very very tolerant till could tahan no more. I paid for a service, not for them to destroy. They are a private company. They do not have ultimate authority, LTA does, so I don’t let them throw their weight around and tell me nonsense.

Here is the newly release  Vehicle Ride Height Gauge  from a UK maker. For car inspection centres and shops installing  body kits , this Vehicle Ride Height Gauge is a must.

I am quite amused recently for an inspection at Vicom.

I was taking a picture of the result for one of my car's test displayed and was told that I cannot do so.

Previously the inspections are only printing a certificate should the vehicle pass the inspection.

Nowadays being enviromental friendly certificates are no longer being issued.

In my field of work I send instruments to lab for calibration and etc and I am provided with a report with details.

Since a test if a vehicle is road worthy is so important why a report is not provided?

Why I was told not to take pictures of the results of my vehicle?

annual inspection and exhaust inspection are 2 different things. and you need to pay for each of the inspection.

Since you already pay so much for approved exhaust, why risk getting caught and get fine by LTA?

@Strat Good Day! Thanks for taking the time to reply me. Yes I know, because the thing is I have very tinted windows all around, smoke tail lights and other mods. Hence, i am asking this question. I do know that I am required to go for 2 different inspections however I am just afraid that i might get more fines when i go for my exhaust inspection. I just wanted to know will there be any consequences if I don't go and touchwood be uncaught all the way till my next annual car inspection and do 2 inspections at once. Is there such a law that after 7-14days installing the exhaust what happens after few months will the fines increase?

You are unable to renew your road tax without an inspection.

Is it normal that I go for exhaust only inspection but still could not get the LTA approved letter simply because they took a photo of my front, side, back car only to find that I have tinted windows, smoke tailights etc. Based from the paper It only says checking of exhaust and not attaching any kind of photos. Would appreciate if anyone can shed some light. I still have to remove all the tints, smokelights just so that I can go for another re-inspection and pass me for my exhaust which totally is different from what I made an appointment for.

many wise men here have said, "mod don't scared, scared don't mod"

I concur what brother @boonhat_91 said, "mod don't scared, scared don't mod". I am surprised that someone would pay hefty sum for approved exhaust only to scared for inspection to have the exhaust certified but tinted windows and smoked tail lights. Care to share what other mods you have?

Just sharing my few suggestions:

1. Just go to certify your exhaust, praying that they will ignore your tinted windows and smoked tail lights. If passed, you can happily drive your car till next inspection. I'm sure you already have planned how to tackle this. If not, just tear the film on the spot (assuming is easily removable or I assume you know what to do in such instances). Ask yourself, what do you intend to do when your car is due for inspection (without the consideration of your newly installed LTA-approved exhaust)?

2. Remove your tinted windows and smoked tail lights and go for your exhaust certification. You get a 100% legal car with no fear of anything that fails inspection.

3. Hiong the exhaust all the way since you know you have illegal tinted windows and smoked tail lights. But that contradicts to what you did, should have gone for illegal  exhaust since you have done it for windows and tail lights (applying the wise men saying).

4. Let me guess what you are thinking, tinted windows and smoked tail lights are cheap. Can tear away if get caught. Fine is lower too. As compared to illegal exhaust as fine is hefty, and inspection very strict on this. You have put yourself in a half bake situation. Ai swee mai mia. Want loud loud exhuast but scare dio liak. Want to be cool, so have tinted windows and smoked tail lights.

If I'm from LTA, on paper after 14 days (which I have no visibility on when you have installed your exhaust) will fine you for illegal exhaust as per normal if you wait till your annual inspection. Simple.

P.S. I installed a HKS ES Wagon legal exhaust on my Honda Airwave in the early 2000s and went for inspection. No tinted windows or smoked tail lights. 100% legal and I feel happy and not scared when I drive out of Vicom on the road. During that time, a lot of zhng-ed cars and you can do a lot, whether you want or not. I decided not to but my friends had all the illegal mods such as tinted windows, smoked tail lights, fog lamps, LED lights, GT-wing spoiler, etc. Been through that and now car is my primary transport and enjoyment only. Only mod is audio for self enjoyment. No body kit, no LED lights, no tinted windows, no fog lamps, no aftermarket DRLs, etc.

Just sharing my experience of car ownership. So it's your choice and hope that you can make a decision.

HKS having fire sale? If one foresaw this 2x inspection problem, one should have bought and install the exhaust 7-14 days before the annual inspection date. I guess your modding workshop will be happy to mod/demod twice for you 🤑

Others have also mentioned that vicom is a corporate entity i.e. vicom =/= LTA. Meaning that if you went in for exhaust inspection, they have no incentive to inspect other things other than exhaust. Well unless LTA gives bonuses to catch other things.
