Atlantis_boi Clutched September 19, 2006 Share September 19, 2006 (edited) Quote it doesn't stand for anything except it's extracted fromt the chassis code of the car, used to identify the different generations of civic. for e.g. prior to this was the ES8(1.5L) / ES5(1.6L) and also ES1(1.7L) for the new civic, FD1(1.8L) / FD2(2.0L) / FD3(Hybrid) and also FD4(1.6L) the same goes for other makes of cars, for e.g. Mitsubishi Evo has the CT9A chassis code, however Evo X, will use a completely redesigned chassis, so the code may change. hope that answers ur n00b question. I understand it's the chassis code. But at 1st when I heard that the code for this new Civic is called FD, immediately the Rx-7 FD came into my mind Except that for Rx-7, it's FD3s while for Civic, it's FD1, 2, 3 & so on..
