Route88 2nd Gear September 12, 2006 Share September 12, 2006 No need to think ~ spec shows 8km/l ,after u drive let say 6 mth going to be 7km/l + wear n tear, hot SG,stop go traffic, Middle east war
Redboy 1st Gear September 12, 2006 Share September 12, 2006 Frankly speaking, u can't feel the difference in terms of low end torque btw 2.0 & 2.4 It's only at mid-high end torque that u can feel the difference. I also noticed after 80kmh, the 2.4 has better pulling & overtaking power than 2.0 I think 2.0 is enough for most sg traffic conditions, unless you go NS highway! Say if u want the occasional burst of power, step till rpm abt 3K. You'll be surprised by the power & silent engine. FC & rd tax could be substantially cheaper in long run! hope my comment helps! Ninjai Neutral Newbie September 12, 2006 Share September 12, 2006 I agree with Redboy. How much can we feel the diff when there are so many stops in between one road to the other? My penny worth of thots.
Alliedaces Neutral Newbie September 13, 2006 Share September 13, 2006 How about 2.0l Kia Magentis? No harm checking it out if you have not decided. Same engine, different looks. Either you like it or you may not. Cheers!
Kiatmobile 1st Gear September 13, 2006 Share September 13, 2006 Which should i get ??? headache..... should i change my booking from 2.0 to 2.4?Advise pls !! Thank you all !! If you can, i suggest you to wait for new 2007 Trajet. Heard its expected to be in October 06. Sonata 2.0 to me is enough of Lemond....
Kiatmobile 1st Gear September 13, 2006 Share September 13, 2006 1KM difference in fuel efficiency but paying $2160 doesn't seem like a good choice? Unless the comfort, horsepower is really big diff... Else i really think 2.0 is a good buy. Yes.....I seconded for that....But me regretted to buy 2.0l
EventH 1st Gear September 13, 2006 Share September 13, 2006 for the 2.4L ... you get roughly 17hp more power and 30Nm torque. $1600 is very little to pay for that much gains. The NF sonata is a heavy car and you need all the power and torque you can get. Based on their graph, 85% of the max torque is avail from 2000rpm to the peak at 4200rpm. The extra road tax is easily offset by the 1km/l better FC if you travel in excess of 20000km per year.
Flee Neutral Newbie September 13, 2006 Share September 13, 2006 With 2.4l, you will prob loot more. So, even if there's any fuel savings to begin with, it will be gone. btw,if change booking, any penalty? Thot normally they will impose a penalty if there's any change to the booking. Walterkoh Neutral Newbie September 13, 2006 Share September 13, 2006 hi all, i remember that i did posted b4 tat my consumption i m getting is min. 10km/l and i do at most 30% highway. i tried the sonata 2 litre at highway at 100km/h, the rpm was close to 2,200 while the 2.4 litre was doing at most 2,050rpm, thus u will hv savings on highways. of cos any cars tat are available with more horses will b easily exploited by the mannerism (habit) n thus loss its advantage in fuel savings. however, it all voice down to your very OWN DRIVING HABITS. if u r considering the sonata, get the 2.4 cheers
Redboy 1st Gear September 13, 2006 Share September 13, 2006 huh! u mean 2.4 got better fc than 2.0?
Magfocus 5th Gear September 13, 2006 Share September 13, 2006 Thats not surprising..more torque..engine has an easier time pulling the bulk hence better consumption, don't have to push itself so hard
Redboy 1st Gear September 13, 2006 Share September 13, 2006 but then, based on what I know, 2.4 will only have better fc on city mode. When 2.4 cruises on highway, fc will be worse! There was this hoo-haa in MCF on whether a bigger cc car, as compared to its smaller cc sibling consume more or less fuel. eg 2.4 vs 2.0 camry, accord etc... Plenty of factors were thrown in!(e.g power-to-weight, gear ratios, cruising rpm...) The statement that caught my attention is the abovementioned. Is this true? Magfocus 5th Gear September 13, 2006 Share September 13, 2006 ..of course depending on the driver too. Some people would push harder with the additional power.. ↡ Advertisement
