Noise from tweeter, Crossover issue?

Any ICE gurus out there can advice me on this?

My gain on the amp has to be turned down really low, if not there would be some hissing static like sound comming from the tweeter.

I'm guessing it's the crossovers i'm using since my speakers and tweeters aren't of the same brand.

Anyone has any spare crossovers i can borrow to "test" my theory? Or anyone knows any way other way to get rid of this sound? It's real irritating on songs that are vocal cause in the background, you can hear hissing...

My HU volume now has to be real high because my gain is almost off..

Actually, i'm not so sure it's a crossover issue.

I've tried 3 different pairs of crossovers, Alphasonik, Hammer Sound and now Cadence.

All have the same hissing problem.

I'm beginning to wonder if it's the Tweeters itself...

Any kind soul care to lend me a pair of crossover and a pair of tweeters to test?

I dun have any spare tweeters, only spare cross overs to test....

I sure hope it's not the amp...

Has the hissing always been there?

The hissing is the noise floor of one of your components. Likely due to a mismatch in gain settings. Try adjusting the crossover gains, or maybe the line driver gain if you have one. Otherwise, I dont think it causes any harm to reduce the gain on the amp till the noise floor disappears.

try checking the tweeter wiring ,check if the connection is touching the metal of the car when it was mounted, if not try switching the wiring............... [lipsrsealed][nod][gossip][idea]

I no guru,, just guessing the problem...................

Your HU volume should be operating around 70 - 80% of its maximum setting at your usual listening levels.

The gain settings on your amp should be adjusted to match the HU's volume accordingly.

FYI, the gain settings on almost all my amps are minimum or just slightly above the minimum settings [nod]

crossovers dun produce snakesounds. it can be likely to be the amps. disconnect ur amp RCA inputs, connect a muting plug to the inputs and see if the snakes still around. if it persists, then u know who's at fault.

Well, this only happens to my front channel...

My rear channel is fine...

So i'm not sure if it's my amp since bothe front and rear are fromt he same amp.

I tested with my crossovers on the floor, far away from any metal :), still got hissing sound. My gain is not about 5% only, still got slight hiss, but acceptable. Anything higher and it's loud. My Crossover also set to -3db, anything more also loud hiss. Different cross over also same thing...Hence, i'm wondering if it's my tweeters instead.

My Hu Volume is at average 42-44 out of 60...But sometime i like to open door and blast till 60...so it's not loud enough at 60 with gains so low...

Aiyah...tonight got so many ICE gurus...some sit in my car and hear and you know what i mean and give advice if my hiss is acceptable in a cheap amp haha..

Easy to check - switch the speakers' cables for the front and rear speakers.

If the hissing sound still there then its not your amp - and the problem would lie before the amp. [flowerface]
