Alee Neutral Newbie September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 I know I'm going to get "hantum" by the Korean fans for saying this but would you pay 6k more for a Hyundai Getz against the Honda Jazz? Yes, the Jazz is a bit long in the tooth like the Altis but for an "underdog" to price itself so much more than the market leader suggest to me, poor value. No doubt the Koreans have improved leap and bounds but I'm not sure if they overtaken Toyota - not yet anyway.
Magfocus 5th Gear September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 But the Altis is nothing like the Jazz..
Mean76 1st Gear September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 The only bad point about Altis is it's made in Thailand whereas Avante made in Korea. (Am I right?) I'm not too convinced of the QA/QC of the Altis ... heard too many complaints about it thou my colleagues and friends. So I'll go for Avante and I'm also very sure Altis won't be that cheap if it's manufacture in Jp.
Gnoikj Neutral Newbie September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 I'm going with Avante cos it looks good compared to the altis...
Magfocus 5th Gear September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 I'll definitely go for the Avante, without a doubt
Alee Neutral Newbie September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 True, if you mean they are diff cars, but they both lead the sales charts in their respective class and are "old" models. My take is Komoco is testing the market and will eventually drop price like they always do. Buyer beware! That said, the Koreans are quite good but not yet the standards of the Jpn market leaders and hence, I have a concern with their premium pricing strategy. Furrynadz 5th Gear September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 i hate hyundie but i vote avante its the lesser of 2 evils..for now soon the road will be full of zhnged avantes also
Quantum 5th Gear September 8, 2006 Author Share September 8, 2006 it's indeed difficult to make decision , Avante has attractive spec, but price , Altis space loses but under toyota title and $6k cheap invisable fact: Koraen vs Japanese(Thai)
Diesel 1st Gear September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 What about driveability? The Altis tho powerful handles like an pek... havent tried the Avante yet
Magfocus 5th Gear September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 I mean that the Jazz is so much better in its class as compared to the Altis. Actually no basis for comparison, other than leading the sales chart in their respective classes.
Quantum 5th Gear September 8, 2006 Author Share September 8, 2006 me too, another the most important fact is FC, altis average FC around 12km/l , but Avante who know??, this will test how deep of your poctet is
Toyo 1st Gear September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 Huh? I thought the Avante shld cost ard 55K??? at this pricing most pple will choose the tested and proven Altis. Even a Kia Cerato will be a better buy than Avante
Quantum 5th Gear September 8, 2006 Author Share September 8, 2006 I think the 121bhp and 153Nm make some bros vote Avante regardless the price[dizzy], in current is there any 1.6L car has this lovely power

Veryfree Clutched September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 face it, altis can never sell in places like Japan, Europe, US. they are built to sell in ASEAN, it is not a matter of cost alone why it is not built in Japan. if altis is not cheap, who the hell will buy that? QC control may be good at Toyota factory, but QC for those parts that supply to Toyota may be questionable. If Altises are so cheap, it has it's reason why so. Not just the factor of cheap Thai workers.
Veryfree Clutched September 8, 2006 Share September 8, 2006 How are Altis proven and tested? by taxi drivers in Thailand or Vietnam or Indonesia? can i have the article please? ↡ Advertisement
