Gz0707 4th Gear October 23, 2006 Share October 23, 2006 Sir, no need for your sarcasm - I have been to CA recently and spoke briefly to a SE. From your reply I gather you are not a Skoda owner, at least not a friendly or helpful one. ↡ Advertisement
Kongkm Neutral Newbie October 23, 2006 Share October 23, 2006 (edited) 1.6A $69900 1.6M $67900 Come with leather seats and 16 in sport rims. Edited October 23, 2006 by Kongkm
Gz0707 4th Gear October 23, 2006 Share October 23, 2006 Thanks! The markup is very high with a margin of >30%, whereas the Superb is a better deal at around 15%. Other issues aside, the Megane just had a good deal going with 5k off the 66k price with the F1 promotion.
Kongkm Neutral Newbie October 24, 2006 Share October 24, 2006 The price for the Basic 1.6A is $68400, Basic 1.6M is $66400; I had tested the 1.6A, the performance like gear shift, FC and room space are better than the Tour; if affordable the SuperB is the best choice. Try_conti 2nd Gear October 24, 2006 Share October 24, 2006 Take the sports rim but leather is questionable. You might get arnd $1k off if you opt NOT to take the leather. Then go outside & get the leather done. Tomo do good leather. The leather that you see in the showroom model may not be what you get. You'll end up with those that look & feel like those in the Skoda cab !
Kongkm Neutral Newbie October 24, 2006 Share October 24, 2006 I have been enjoying my OCT Tour for a year, next change shall be the SuperB.
Try_conti 2nd Gear October 24, 2006 Share October 24, 2006 My next change would probably be 5 yrs down the road Unless your Octy is fully paid already
Kongkm Neutral Newbie October 24, 2006 Share October 24, 2006 Mine is fully paid already, plan to use it for five years, but it is too clamp for six people to squeeze in.
Try_conti 2nd Gear October 24, 2006 Share October 24, 2006 6 ? Adults or adults and kids ? If 6 adults, even the SPB won't fit. You need a MPV man
Kongkm Neutral Newbie October 24, 2006 Share October 24, 2006 Only weekend is 6 adults, other days only the driver alone; I prefer Sadan because MPV looks like van.
Try_conti 2nd Gear October 24, 2006 Share October 24, 2006 Even with the SPB, 6 adults on weekend also become sardine can liao I can't imagine how you manage to squeeze 6 adults into your current Octy though I'm driving one. After everyone squeeze in, can still move meh ?
Kongkm Neutral Newbie October 24, 2006 Share October 24, 2006 My kids are tall (1.7m to 1.8m) but skinny, so still can squeeze in; Superb have longer leg space, it shall be more comfortable.

Weekday a drive alone, travel a bit often so prefer a better feel!!! MVP a bit like mini bus, try a lot already!!!
Try_conti 2nd Gear November 8, 2006 Share November 8, 2006 If going for the Octy2, better get the basic version. At most wif sports rim only. Forget the leather. You'll definitely not get the leather that you see in the showroom. Go outside & do yourself better.

Koolaba 1st Gear November 9, 2006 Author Share November 9, 2006 Echoing the sentiments of Try_Conti, I have seen the workmanship of leather upholstery done by CA's new leather contractor, which has been commissioned to provide the leather upholstery for all the Superb taxis from Premiercab. Sharing my thoughts aloud here: http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1574306; Verdict: Save up the cash and spend it on better quality leather upholstery from more reputable contractors like TomoCSE (previous leather contractor from CA). It will definitely be more troublesome taking ownership of the leather upholstery project yourself. It could also be more costly. However you have the flexibility of choosing the colour and texture (perforated leather, smooth leather, suede etc). Quality will definitely be much better compared to the new leather contractor engaged by CA. For comparison, just take a look at the upholstery of the Renaults on display and take a look at the leather upholstery of the Skodas on display or the Skoda Superb 2.5 TDI taxis. Pay particular attention to the texture of the leather and stitching. To pay the same price of around $1k to $1.5k for leather upholstery provided by a less reputable contractor is definitely not a wise move.
Try_conti 2nd Gear November 9, 2006 Share November 9, 2006 One option is to take the 'showroom' model then you'll have everything in it, swee, swee .... Isn't that what was always 'recommended' .... ↡ Advertisement
