Lube oil almost dried up

Like to share a bad experience I had. For the whole of last week, I detected my oil pressure indicator lighting up on a few of occasions. Since it was just a few day more before my next servicing and the indicator light didn't come on permanently, I didn't pay much attention to it since the engine temp was normal and the engine didn't behave abnomally. I just thought that that the oil level could be a bit lower. After knocking off from work on Fri, I checked the dipstick and found to my horror that the oil level was way below the minimum. I drove over to Stamford Tyres which is a few blocks away from my work place to top up the oil and check for any obvious leakage. To my horror, it took almost 3 litres of lube oil to get it up to an acceptable level which incidentally has a capacity is 3.6 litres. No evidence of leakage was also detected. After drving home, I made another check myself below my vehicle and found a very small puncture from the oil filter which was damaged by the tightening tool. On Sat, I drove to the workshop, Jxxxsxxxd and complained to them about the sloppy job that they did for my previous servicing. For this servicing, I had no choice but to follow them every step of the way to ensure there would not be another repeated incident and to make sure that they actually used the oil that I brought myself.

Why in the world would they use an oil filter removal tool to tighten the oil filter? Oil filters are tightened by hand and nothing else! mad.gif

Hammer that into their brains. Even a layman like me knows that.

That's why I have to supervise them throughout the whole procedure. Damn idiots. [thumbsdown] Don't be so modest lah!!! Everyone here knows you are one of the oil gurus in this forum. [thumbsup][thumbsup][thumbsup]

Hopefully, no serious damage since I didn't experienced anything unusual about the engine

note, performance or operating temp.

Agree. What kind of workshop is that? [shakehead][shakehead]

Sorry, I can't help but wonder would the 3.6l of engine oil last u for 10000km of travelling. Like wat u have mention u r few days away for next servicing, 1 servicing to another would be around 10000km or 3 to 4 months.

When the engine start up, the oil pressure built up would cause the oil to leak at a relatively fast rate thru the puncture, thus technically I dun think the puncture is there since ur last servicing.

No. I think everyone here has mistaken. I bought the M1 0W20 lube from Bro Trex101 for this oil change but since the filter was leaked, I simply brought the oil changed schedule forward. Now my ride is a lot more free reving. [thumbsup][thumbsup][thumbsup]

OK, I'm laid man. I've been laid before. Not laid off but laid. sly.gif

So...for the record...how many times have you been laid? Was it with the same person? tongue.gifsly.gif

Maybe, I should clarify here. I have only done 4.4km on this vehicle and was going for the 5K serving. The puncture was very small and at the bottom side of the vehicle. That's was why the mechanic at Stxxxx Tyxxx also failed to detect it. When I crawled under the vehicle with the engine running, it was dripping only very slowly. Anyway, my eyes cannot be wrong. When the filter was dismantled, the mechanic and I did confirm the leakage from the exact spot that I suspected and the mark from the tools was so pretty obvious. I actually wanted to post a pic here but threw it away while cleaning up my car last weekend.

As I mentioned before, engine revs more freely now. In terms of fuel consumption, it is too early to tell.

Didn't ask for any compensation. Since nothing major happened to my ride, just let it go as that. Anyway, already made a lot of noise at the workshop and I am sure that heard me loud and clear.
