The lady and her back seat passenger was flung out of the car and she sustained head injuries. Is this another case of no seat-belt. If they did belted up and still get flung out of the car, then Honda Jap will have to look into the car design seriously. After this incident, better to request for premium tires from KM if buying.

tyre bursting at high speed can happen to any car and turtle too. my guess is it either was a puncture going undetected. or possibly overinflation of tyres as tyre pressures rise at high speeds.

as for Honda, well the body is usually very light and the metal seems flimsy. but that's just my take on it. for all u noe, it may have a 5 star crash rating

Straits Time oso have. It looks more like a black ES8.

Nah, it is confirmed the 8th Gen Civic, in the papers, look out for the side mirror indicator and also the windscreen wiper joint at both left and right side (Signature of the 8th Gen Civic)

Hmmm wonder what speed she travelling...

When i was in sec sch, was in my dad's car, a nissan datsun. Quite old then.

Was travelling about 110km/h when the rear tyre burst. Lucky the car never overturn or skid.

Seems my dad never step on brake on never pull handbrake. He just let the vehicle slow down by itself and use engine brake.

Lucky..... [flowerface]

Hmm, looked more like lost control after tyre burst, veer off the highway & landed on its side ... instead of turned over or turtle as a couple of people mentioned ..

Still the lost of life is tragic. Seat belts must be on .... that's what I always trumpet.

Realised that even in Singapore now, not many rear passenger put it on after the initial hoo-ha. I've even seen driver & front passenger NOT fastening seat belts in Singapore ....

i would thinki that when going long distance, after and hour or 2 of those 150km/h or above drives to take a short break and see if the tyres r ok, the engine is not overheating etc.

sometimes electronics fail. a five min. smoke break and a quick visual plus touch here and there inspection would help alot.

tyres should always be the best one can afford as it has been said often enough, its the only thing holding one to the road.

alignment etc, all the more no need to say.

Ya, perhaps she could be alive if she had fastened her seat belt. Tyre burst can happen to anything car. Perhaps they assume new car so no need to check tyre pressure? [:/]

perhaps.....and they assumed that the tyre pressure would be sufficient....

but for all u noe...the tyres could have been old stock, rubber hard, etc...unsure.gif

Even from 7th generation Civic, its weight is already heavier than Sunny and Altis. It also has a crash rating of 5 stars.
