The real reason is emissions and cost cutting. Safety is piss easy.

But R&D into a good chassis, and engines are harder, so they just do R&D for one model and heck-care the rest.

Emissions are another hard thing to meet with small CC hi-po engines, so they take the easy route out.

They are smart, after establishing a perception of sportiness through those past fast cars, it's now to reap the rewards on the bread and butter models.

 

Just like Renault is leveraging on their F1 win ... how many really fast cars they have - Clio trophy and Megane RS?

performance doesnt come cheap mah, so pple may be willing to buy just slightly more for a slightly sporty ride in reality, but perceives it much so, sice perception is free.

honda??? overated... not as good (performance wise) as they used to be. Where are cars like the ek type R's, DC2 type R's, and NSX R???? These were all cutting edge... At least the DC5 isnt half bad... but gimme a DC2 with a K20A instead...

IMHO..i think its down to e owners' way of modding & personal preference..u can own a honda/toyota but god knows wat other make of engine lies under e bonnet...

I drive a Honda because the design is more sleek. I would drive a Toyota if they have nicer designs, after all Toyota VVTI engine is powerful yet fuel economical. Toyota designers should be sacked really. If Altis looks trendier, it would surely entice more young pple to buy. With the new Honda Stream, think Wish sales also will go down. Vios is the exception, looks much nicer than City. Yaris also cmi when compared to Jazz/Fit in my opinion

toyota?? relatively boring all the way but at least their older cars were over engineered thats why they were super reliable plus with a few pretty farn good performance cars.. thank god for the SS2.

 

Nissan?? lagi the worst... after cars like the N15 pulsar vrz and vrz N1 (direct competitors to the Sir and Type R civics), plus the silvias and skylines what do they have now??? Just one boat called the 350z.

 

Bah give me back my performance cars... jazz, vios, wish, stream, accord, civic, latio, *pui* all these softies can go back into the sewers they came from... or remain as the grocery getters they were meant to be.

 

performance grocery getters??? SI/SIR, ek SIR/VTiR, ep82 starlet GT, N15 Nissan pulsar VZR (never came to sg unfortunately), AE111 Corolla, Nissan micra super turbo Now these are the grocery getters to mod!!!

It all goes down to personal preference. You cannot go wrong with either with their commanding presence world wide.

Every car has its pro and con. There's no right and wrong to it.

 

I owned a Vios once, but I also tried out the Honda City, Jazz, Civic, Accord. Along with it, I also test drove the Corolla and Camry too.

 

Every car has things that you just love and things you just hate.

 

Right now, I drive something else, but I do look around and sometimes, the appeal of a simple car like the Jazz is good too.

They wont be sacked. It's already the best selling model here
