I heard jumpstarting is not good for our ECU. I dunno but thats what I heard.. It may just kill the ECU.. Lolz.. ANyway, perhaps you could call up your mechanic to come and replace the battery? =)

Btw, how lold is your batt? Maintenance free doesn't mean it will not go flat. You can enegange your can in 2nd gear, get someone to push it and try to start + release the clutch (like you'll do during normal driving @ 1st gear) and step down the acc pedal.

maintenance free doesnt mean it'll last forever... when its time to go, its time to go...

when servicing your car, ask the mechanic to check on the condition of the battery too... it'll save you the troubles that u are experiencing now...

Just to update..

I didn't leave the lights on overnight, and the car was fine less than 10 hrs ago.. Heh

Got some AA guy to come (under 20km, 6mths old so it's still free)

He opened the petrol tank.. Then he turned on the ignition and stepped on the accelerator and it started.

He explained that there was "air in the engine" whatever it means, so have to step on the accel and ignite at the same time. He advised me not to leave the tank less than half empty (?!?!!) and not to leave it idle for more than 2 days.

He also related that he has seen a number of rio5 with this problem, don't know how true it is.

Anyway my car is working fine now, will send it for servicing soon, *scared*

If your battery was flat then the AA mechanic wouldn't be able to even crank the engine without connecting to another battery in parallel.

Or do you mean you were trying to start but only hear engine cranking but not starting up?
