JW First hand

Just bought a JW Clay, Prime and Trigger from Gen 2 and did a detailing job with it. Really regret i din't take any pictures because i can see some distinct difference.

After washing and claying (the JW Claybar is really so easy to use compared to the Soft 99, good stuff) and proceeded to do a Prime. As my paintwork has already been badly acid etched, thus i decided not to do anything much, just want to do a basic surface prep with JW Prime. Indeed, the yellow sponge turned black, indicating alot of chemical contaminants on my paint surface. Buffing off the residue is a breeze, in fact my wife was helping wipe off the residue, trust me, she didn't even sweat a bit and was enjoying cleaning it off to a shine. I was, on the other hand trying to rub as hard as possible hoping to get the surface as clean as possible.

Then i sprayed jett over my bonnet and to my shock, i could see the bonnet just became so wet looking. Comparing to the side panel, it look so wet and felt so slick. In no more than 20 minutes, i've already coated a layer of jett to the whole car. Overall feel, my greatest detailing product so far. Now its on the durability test before i get back.

Let me rate some of the products i've used before

Meguiar Paint Cleaner, Show Car Glaze, Paint Sealant. Quite good results, glaze gives the car a very wet look, but use of product is very hard. Alot of buffing and removal of residue required. Paint sealant only lasted for 1-2weeks before water beading becomes poor

Zaino Z1 and Z5. Creates a very wet look. But buffing off the residue of Z5 is rather a pain too. I had to re-apply a little of Z5 to get it off.

JW gives a very similar, or if not a slightly wetter look to Zaino's. But only using 1/4 of the effort required. When i bought it, i hope it was not some bull sxxt here talking about the ease of use and the brillance it gives, but after using it, this is really not some bxxxxxxt stuff.

Tks Gen2 for the great intro to this product. Now i'll swear by this product

Pardon me for asking, thought should follow by AJ acrylic sealant after prime so as to provide a protective layer? My understanding of Trigger is a form of booaster inbetween detailing session? Correct me if am wrong.

Cheers

Well, i'm not sure. Gen 2 recommended me these steps. There's anotehr acrylic glos too...maybe he saw me that i prob not want to spend too much time on my car, he recommended me trigger instead of the normal jett. maybe Gen2 can help you clarify?

LT, are you around? you've got a question!

I got JW from Gen2 some time ago too, great stuff I must say, but I was too lazy to write a report here.

To answer your question, based on my understanding AJ Trigger is an improved version of AJ with ease of use in mind. The "booster" you were referring to is probably the Glos which is used as a QD.

Hope this answers the question. Gen2 please correct me if I am wrong. [:)]

Cool... does it mean if we use these products, we can do away with the much publicised PPS?

Experienced bros please advice!

Thanks! [flowerface]

AJ Trigger is a sealant by itself, very similar to AJ itself but specially formulated to make it more user friendly. By layering, it will provide the same level of protection as the normal AJ. Last weekend, I was talking to the gentleman from Det.....gy and according to him although users of AJ were generally happy with it, many of them wanted a product that was easy to apply and wipe off. In fact, many of them were actually actually diluting with water before use. By putting on more layers, the same level of protection can be obtained.

We are not some expereinced bros here, but just want to save a few bucks...300 bucks for 1 year, my JW package could last me longer than that i think... like most polymeric base products, less is more (meaning applying thin will give you better results).

just a one time purchase of MF cloths, sponges and you are ready to go. In terms of sweat, i personally feel i sweat the least when i used JW products. That being said, i still use bull strength to rub in the JW Prime because i want the surface as clean as possible so that the sealant can bind in properly. Talk to Gen2, request for a small demo and i'll believe you'll be poisoned just like me.

When Gen2 taught me how to use the product, it's just so lay man. It like put this on here, rub and wipe. When the Zaino people taught me how to use the Zaino, its like wipe in this direction, moist a bit, add this and apply in a single direction...so troublesome! No offence, but seriously, if a product is good, it should then be easy to use. If it is for the professionals, then take it off the shelf, sell to shops only.

The only difference is whether you DIY or get it done by the professionals. There are experienced DIYers who organised regular sessions for the uninitiated usually over the weekend. Watch out for their thread in this forum. As Bro Caltis has pointed out, you can always pay Gen2 a visit, talk to him, watch what he does,.......

Hi Bro [wave] Being an Ex-PPS user maybe i can share some experience with you [:p] Even if your ride is under PPS, you'll still need to DIY yourself weekly using their product [:|] Trust me, plain water to wash your entire ride and wait for another 6 months for the next inspection is definately a big 'No No' [shakehead] By then, the shine/clearcoat of your ride would have already deteriorate [sweatdrop] Using Meguiar, OCW, JW, Autoglym .... etc in 1-2 weeks interval would at least ensure that your ride is in better condition then [nod] Maybe, for the 1st detailing get a professional or our in house detailing guru Bro Gen2 to do it for you while subsequently DIY yourself [;)] Like Bro Biccat had mentioned, there are some experienced Bros whom organised detailing session on Sats whom you can pickup a trick or 2 from [;)]

Bro, since you have already obtained the AP and AJT, I would personally recommend the AG as well. It is both a wash and sealant, very useful to be kept in hand for those quick detailing jobs on a slightly dusted car.

Tks bro for your recommendation. in fact, its in my shopping list. Will get it from Gen2 the next time i'm in the area. I'll most probably use AG weekly, and AJT every 3-4 weeks (to save some cost)...

Thanks bro for your advice... coz I'll be getting my new ride soon... so wondering whether I should do a good job one shot using PPS or should I just go straight into using JW...

What would you do if you were me? [flowerface]

Hi Bro Skip, you are right about the Trigger [nod] . It is the third generation sealant from JW products range and it is an easier product to use as compare to AJ. But both products will give excellent gloss and slickness [;)] .
