I have seen this new kei-car model in the recent Motoring and Torque magazines and the mitsubishi i seems to be quite an interesting model.

 

660cc turbocharged engine with a wheelbase longer then a nissan sunny. Has anyone gone for a test-drive or has any comments?

Unique styling, both interior and exterior.

Spacious, especially by kei class standard.

Reasonable fuel consumption.

Engine, urban handling.

Lower road tax.

 

It's styling might be too unique for some.

Sleek integrated audio unit not available, cos local radio frequency not compatible.

(Japan even has an edition that has an audio unit, which can incorporate a iPod nano).

No boot, albeit rear seats can be folded down to compensate.

No environment-friendly rebates in SG.

Can get a tad noisy on highway.

Understeer.

Price.

 

 

Basically its targeted at a specific audience - one that is more concern about styling than performance. Dont get me wrong, it's engine is more than adequate for it's class. Just that at similar pricing, one can get a better handling car.

 

It's look is bound to attract attention on the road and at carparks, and it definitely will withstand the test of time. I reckon it wont look a least bit outta place, say in 10 years time.

 

If you can live with the cons, I say go for it. I know I would. [:)]

i had seen this car at the cycle & carriage centre's car park before it was launched.

its logo is an "I" instead of the 3 diamonds Mitsubishi logo.

then last week i saw a salesman driving one along PIE.

it was still hanging on the blue tag.

Seriously, why would anyone purchase an exact same model from a PI when the local agent carrying it too. No offences, but I rather have peace of mind paying slightly more and get from the latter instead.

Gonna bear in mind this is a kei-car, cant really compare with your regular drive. Its actually $49k, additional 5k for the Ralliart accessories.

Cos its using a set of front tyres that are narrower than the rear (first used on the Smart cars), hence the understeer.

the $42k come without many gadget from what C&C have. it was suppose to be gadget car, so without those thing, not interesting liao

Other than the JDM audio system, I dont see any other addditional gadget that the PI can exlude. Anyway, the JDM audio system wont be available even on the local agent's model.
