Vit4wd 1st Gear July 29, 2006 Share July 29, 2006 Was at the Cherry QQ showroom today with my friend. I was shocked when the Cherry QQ salesman told my friend that the QQ shares the same engine as the Mitsubishi 1, only that the QQ engine does not come with turbo. Is this true? He said that Mitsubishi 1 owners pay over S$50K for their car, but Chery QQ owners get the same engine for only S$32K, enjoying a savings of over S$20K! Vit4wd 1st Gear July 29, 2006 Author Share July 29, 2006 I was told that the gearbox & certain parts of the engine uses Siemens technology. The salesman also demo to my friend and me how he slowly releases the clutch while the Cherry QQ is staionary on 1st gear and the car will move forward by itself without the driver stepping on the eccelerator. He said this is the Siemens technology. In this case, then all manual cars utilises "Siemens Technology"
Kanchelsk 2nd Gear July 29, 2006 Share July 29, 2006 i thought china always make they own parts n assembled the stuff...
Odyssey02 Clutched July 29, 2006 Share July 29, 2006 This is absoulute bxxxxxxt. The Mitsubishi i uses a 660cc turbocharged engine while that QQ has a 800cc engine. It's totally different and i have doubts whether a big car maker would license a new engine to another car company.
Boyboy 1st Gear July 29, 2006 Share July 29, 2006 kangoo also siemens technology. confirm + chop some more mine is higher tech, 2nd gear also can move off

Gnoikj Neutral Newbie July 29, 2006 Share July 29, 2006 I was kidding... More likely the bulk of the material is from China, but the technology follows Siemens...

Odyssey02 Clutched July 29, 2006 Share July 29, 2006 What i mean is that they wouldn't license an engine still in production to another car company. For example, Mercedes is leasing their old W124 series engine to Ssangyong for their Rexton and Chairman vehicles etc.

Nutty 4th Gear July 29, 2006 Share July 29, 2006 Can't really blame them righT? Most salesperson are supposed to hynotise themselves to believe that their products are the best in that market segment. So they'll go all out to hynotise potential customers too. Princey_anne 1st Gear July 29, 2006 Share July 29, 2006 (edited) You know China will mass produce anything that is good. In the past Korean cars were not too good. However they are really using Japan engine, my first ride is a Korean car. So now I would buy a Korean car again even I had problems in the past as the SE are good.
