Koolaba 1st Gear July 25, 2006 Share July 25, 2006 (edited) Good news to prospective Octavia II owners. CA has done some adjustments to the pricing of the Octavia II. But I believe there is more room for improvement. http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...ew&post=1467970 For those who are seriously considering to get the Octavia Tour, please PM me your name and contact number ASAP. The price of the Octavia Tour will be revised upwards with effect from 26 Jul 2006. My SE will try his best to log in the current current purchase price for you. Jack_jack Neutral Newbie July 25, 2006 Share July 25, 2006 That's more like it! [nod] The Octavia II's a fabulous car. Let's hope the distributor's able to chalk up the sales now.
Koolaba 1st Gear July 25, 2006 Author Share July 25, 2006 I agree. I believe there is more room for improvement. Remember that the biggest price difference between a Octavia II and Octavia Tour in Europe is SGD6k. The smallest price difference is around SGD4k. EventH 1st Gear July 25, 2006 Share July 25, 2006 Where is the FSI 1.6L .... 3k pounds more ....
Koolaba 1st Gear July 25, 2006 Author Share July 25, 2006 Bro, Do not forget that RON98 petrol is mandatory for 1.6 FSI engine to deliver optimum efficiency and power. Pump it with RON95 and the car feels more lethargic than a MPI running on RON95. The added penalty is the loss in mileage returns of approx 150km per full tank. EventH 1st Gear July 25, 2006 Share July 25, 2006 you mean the FSI consume 150km more per full tank compare to thge MPI?
Koolaba 1st Gear July 25, 2006 Author Share July 25, 2006 Hi, I have the opportunity to drive a rented VW Golf 1.6 FSI 6 speed manual in Sweden. The car was first topped up a full tank of RON98 petrol. Total mileage covered with around 40l of RON98 petrol is around 680km. In view of cost-saving (penny wise pound foolish when I think back), I decided to top up with RON95 petrol for the next tank. Total mileage covered was 520km on around 40l of RON95. Not forgetting the decreased power and torque output at rpms from 1500rpm to around 3000rpm. If you pop open the petrol tank cover of any VAG car with FSI engine, it states clearly that RON98 petrol must be used. RON95 petrol should be used when it is impossible to find RON98 petrol for refilling.

EventH 1st Gear July 26, 2006 Share July 26, 2006 oh ... that's ron98 vs ron95 mileage. But the FSI has better power, 8.3cents/L more is the price you to pay for the extra 13hp and newer tech. "The 1.6 MPI/ 102 bhp is the perfect option for customers who are looking for a livelier engine and an efficient operation. It is an all-aluminium four-cylinder, eight-valve OHC engine and features a variable intake pipe that gives the engine extraordinary flexibility over the whole rev range. The engine has selective knock monitoring for individual cylinders. The engine develops a maximum of 102 bhp at 5,600 rpm; the torque is 148 Nm/3,800 rpm. A Skoda Octavia fitted with this engine has a maximum speed of 118mph, and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 12.3 sec. The combined consumption is 38.2 mpg, or 34.4 mpg with automatic transmission. The new technology of direct petrol injection makes the 1.6 FSI/ 115 bhp the optimum combination of excellent dynamic characteristics and advantageous fuel consumption in the new Skoda Octavia's range of petrol engines. Drivers who like a smooth and economical drive, but at the same time want the guarantee of a sufficient power reserve, will find this the ideal choice. This all-aluminium, four-cylinder 1.6 litre FSI engine uses 2xOHC technology with an adjustable camshaft for the intake valves and plastic intake pipe. It produces a maximum of 115 bhp at 6,000 rpm and torque of 155 Nm at 4,000 rpm. A new Octavia with this engine has a maximum speed of 123 mph and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 11.2 sec. The combined consumption is 40.4 mpg. The engine is equipped with two three-way catalytic converters - main converter and front-end converter, two lambda sensors, and exhaust gas re-circulation with an electric valve." If you use say 40L per week, that is extra $14 per month only. Much better than some crazy mod to get the same "extra" peak power. But the FSI version is 3k pounds more ... how much would that be in singapore, tax and all.

Try_conti 2nd Gear July 26, 2006 Share July 26, 2006 Got a feeling that CA knew buyers would compare Octy Tour price with Octy II. Since the price difference in Europe is arnd 2k-3keuro, by raising the price of Octy Tour by S$2k & dropping Octy II price, CA can be seen to close the price differential gap to arnd S$7k. However, without any justification of raising the Tour price by S$2k, to me, the difference is still S$10k ! The Tour used to go for S$60k the last round. What the crap is CA thinking off ? Dun remember COE went up by so much, neither is the Euro !

Jack_jack Neutral Newbie July 26, 2006 Share July 26, 2006 Quote & thought that I could at least participate in this round of group buy for the Tour .... haiz Be patient, bro. When the distributor pulls its head outta its @ss and wakes up to reality, it may bring prices back down to more realistic levels. ↡ Advertisement
