i saw this in Yihing's installation. lightweight material.

not sure how much it dampens cheapo cars like mine. maybe more suitable for well-made cars. cos there's only so much fish tank foam can go to dampen vibrating plastic panels ..

 

the carpet layer looks really thin. this is the layer providing the seal for the "speaker box" so i'm amazed it provides an adequate seal.
