Vit4wd 1st Gear July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 (edited) Was speaking to a friend's friend who works at the workshop of the authorised distributor for a certain Korean marque (K**) in Singapore, whose 1086cc compact hatch has been selling like hot cakes since it was launched in mid 2004. He admitted that for normal servicing, they seldom check all items listed on the checklist. They simply tick everything without bothering to check at all. What they do is just change the engine oil, spark plugs, oil filter, that's all. Otherwise, "How can we service so many cars in one fay?" If so, what is the purpose of sending our car back to the authorised distributor for servicing and yet be a sucker to be charged a premium for sub standard service? Kanchelsk 2nd Gear July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 any ways we can make this known to the authority
Dipstick Neutral Newbie July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 I believe that "They simply tick everything without bothering to check at all." Whenever I sent my car in for servicing, I always locked the boot. After the service, I noticed that they always ticked the "checked spare tyre" box. how could they have checked the spare tyre when they do not have access to it? There is a lot of BS going on. Vit4wd 1st Gear July 16, 2006 Author Share July 16, 2006 (edited) Report to which authority? CASE? Will they do anything? They will tell you that this is private matter to be settled between you and the service provider. And what proof do you have that they did not check everything on your car when servicing? Will the service personal be so naive to admit that he did not check everything? I got to know of this through inside story, 'cos I happen to know someone working in inside there. Won't be surprised if this is the case at other distributors' workshops too. Edited July 16, 2006 by Vit4wd
Picanto 3rd Gear July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 its true that they do not check the stuff. all these 36 points check etc all bxxxxxxt one. worse is that you cannot see them service your car if its done at leng kee.
Nutty 4th Gear July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 I always feel that we should be allowed to see what's going on while our cars are being serviced. Never trust the workshop guys. When I sent my car for v-kool installation, I left the premises for lunch. When I came back from lunch, I was shocked to see them blasting my sound system to a super high volume!!! Nutty 4th Gear July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 Yeah... I never trust valet. Went Sheraton Hotel recently. I rejected their valet parking services and park on my own.

Dipstick Neutral Newbie July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 Quote: Otherwise, "How can we service so many cars in one fay?" If they can't check everything, then they should only list and tick thost items that they can check or have the time to check instead of cheating the paying customer. Sometimes we see a list of up to 40 items and if they check only 10 items, then the remaining 30 items should not be in the list. This is blatant cheating because we are paying for work that has not been done.
Garlic 1st Gear July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 (edited) I think they are not the only one, won't be surprised if the other agents are doing the same thing. We are at the losing end, should we decide to service elsewhere, these bl**dsuck*ers will threaten to void the warranty should anything happen during the first 3 yrs. Coolpica 4th Gear July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 Yup, we are always at the mercy of these car distributors. They like to threaten us with voiding the warranty should we go to other workshops for servicing. I own the K** **canto. I know that the workshop guys didn't go thru all checks even if the service centre is open for all to see.
Bhaal Neutral Newbie July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 (edited) The checklist is bull sh!t, I just bring my car to a mechnanic after the free servicing for oil change & stuff. I think the warranty issue is overrated. Edited July 16, 2006 by Bhaal
Six_ghz Neutral Newbie July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 For normal servicings, I believe going back to the distributor is for the peace of mind. If they're gonna fleece you through this, then there is nothing much you can do. I once had a Seat, it's a fantastic car I must say. When I brought it to Ba******* Motors, they charged $80+ for labour upfront. Throw in long-life plugs and oils and other replacement stuffs, it easily hit $300+ per service. For a one-litre car, this is ! If only I knew there are other garages that do Seats, I would have gone there!
