EXhaust tip mod-Experts pls advise

Sorry I never elaborate further, but I got fine because the original tip was cut away and the cosmetic exhaust tip( double barrel like AMG's) was WELDED directly on the muffler/silencer. This is not allowed according to LTA even if it pass the emission test. Exhaust shop at ubi assured it was LTA compliant.. haha wat a joke. Went back with the summon and they cannot be bothered. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

 

of course, if u own the shop wud u want to make a sale, tell people LTA

compliant.

or u say , not legal ,will get fined.

In this case,no need to do biz, might as well close shop.

For the benefit of everyone in the forum, I want to make known that this is an illegal mod in accordance to LTA and I got fined for it.

 

If people dun share, might as well close the forums!

If we try our luck during inspection at the inspection centre, will we be fined by them if we have "disturbed" exhaust system?

I don't think inspection centre will fine you. the most the fail your car, and require you to come back again. you might have to pay !!

 

Even if you pass, that doesn't guarantee the ROV will pass you. Inspection centre only prove your car to be road worthiness.

So welded on is illegal if you are caught together with tinted windows and Lightings?

Maybe if the whole car is stock and only modification is a welded on nice tip, the LTA/ROV will give exception?

I think when one is unluckily fined $580 for illegal mods...it can be very frustrating to try to convince others that its illegal. I can understand your kindness in trying to warn others of your mistakes.

 

We all know the written rules are open to interpretation. LTA is the KING and their words count.

my van went for LTA inspection with 4" titanium tip...

blue tint coloured type and pass...

i was followed by a ROV bike b4 one morning and the COP

followed behind my van for a distance to hear my exos sound...

sadly no sound so he over took me and left...

I spoke to a senior engineer from LTA regarding weld on tip and was told its ok as long as the cut off point is a few CM away from the box and not totally cut off.
