Fcw75 Hypersonic July 13, 2006 Share July 13, 2006 The vibrations only appears at a certain speed range - this type of virbation is very difficult to solve as it is inherent - the speed rang window is know as critical speed where almost all rotating components vibrate at the same frequency.Try rotating or changing tyres and doing on car balancing at 80 instead of the default 120 kmh. Thanks for the advice! ↡ Advertisement
Jusnel 6th Gear July 13, 2006 Share July 13, 2006 ok ... i have checked my tyre pressure all round and my suspension i feel that right side is harder then left side if yr suspension is not the same for both sides, means its up lorry already soon. maybe thats the problem causing yr car to pull. 2 yrs old? then its under warranty? go back to agent and see what they say. sometimes, agents know better than outside ws. Elfenstar 3rd Gear July 13, 2006 Share July 13, 2006 driving and braking also have.when uneven rd and braking some time harder pull to right If its not an alignment issue, i would agree with yeobh. I'm willing to bet if thats the case it would be the ball-joint on the steering rack ends.
Sky8807 1st Gear July 14, 2006 Share July 14, 2006 (edited) Hi, This problem bother me for almost a year... my steering would easily pull to the right on slight bump and sometime even straight road. I have visited 2 different workshop to do computer 4 wheel alignment, but problem still there.... 1 of the workshop is highly recommandedin forum. can anyone help ?? thank you Maybe u can show us the alignment report mainly camber, castor angles. Compare this to the manufacturer figure to see whether they are within the range. Many years back, I had this problem on a brand new madza 323 and the car will go one side when you brake w/o holding the steering on a straight road. The camber was out of specs. tyre uneven wear was not obvious(can detect uneven wear only after abt 9K which is abt the tyre rotational time) I visited many alignment shop until give up. Finally drove the car for about 6 years before sold off. Vicom inspection pass, because they only check for side slip. But I know that the alignment is not within specs. Boyboy 1st Gear July 14, 2006 Share July 14, 2006 (edited) How abt steering wheel vibrating at 80km/h only? Above and below that no vibration. Done wheel balancing twice oready. Something to do with steering shaft? for me it was tyre bulge. not wheel alignment or balancing. it is a possibility if u have rulled out the others. and it can fail suddenly n totally aka BURST which happened to me also wanna add tt my vibration will be after a certain speed onwards. but at tt particular speed it will be especially bad. at first i thought it was the balancing but after i rotated the affected wheel to the back, vibration sort of went away, until one day it came back (this time from rear). next day or two days later.. BOOM. Edited July 14, 2006 by Boyboy
Elfenstar 3rd Gear July 14, 2006 Share July 14, 2006 yup thats the problem with more camber. its better for cornering but makes the car more skittish on the straights.
Hlkh Clutched July 15, 2006 Author Share July 15, 2006 if go back agent will they charge me extra expensive, cause i did a few time outside and also change the camber bolt for my front?
Hlkh Clutched July 15, 2006 Author Share July 15, 2006 anyway i can check the ball-joint on the steering rack end?
Jusnel 6th Gear July 15, 2006 Share July 15, 2006 you are just going back for their expert advise on what's the real problem is. u dun have to pay them to do it, just listen to their advise first. then you go to outside ws and tell the mech what is the problem and the outside ws can double check on it. at least you know the real problem, instead of feeling lost. Yeobh 4th Gear July 16, 2006 Share July 16, 2006 I belive yr rid have macpherson strunt - that means fix camber setting by repalcing the std bolt with after market camber bolt yuou have actually creat more problem. The mechanics who do the modifications fails to understand that by increaseing the camber setting = increase in lateral pulling force and therefore the lateral force need to be counteract by increasing the toe angle. Hlkh Clutched July 18, 2006 Author Share July 18, 2006 just check on most of the link on my suspension, wheel, tie rode and lower arm. i found that my lower arm has a rod straight up that connect to a bar stick out from the body. This rod have rubber bushing on the lower arm and the connect to the bar. i compare my left and right side lower arm bushing for the rod and found that my right side bushing is abit out of center leaning to aside but my left side look very proportion. Could it be the problem??
Yeobh 4th Gear July 18, 2006 Share July 18, 2006 Suggest you get a experience mech to have to look and check the free play of both ball joints and wheel end bearings.

Aloskimo Neutral Newbie February 10, 2007 Share February 10, 2007 Looks like the wheel steering linkage is giving the problems. Check ball joints and wheel end front bearing. If all ok chances the wheel toe need some adjustments. 4 wheel computerised whelel aligner is of no use one who do not understand the basic wheel geometery set-up and thier relationship. Just by ajdusting according to the display reading without any mechanical feeling is a perfect receipt for failure and burning a big hole in one's pocket. PS if yr ride has ever meet an accident that caused serious undercariage damage, under such condition it is advisable to get the undercariage measured and pull back to spec before doing the wheel alignment. hi sir, I have experienced e problem on my ride....care to share where shld i look for an experience mechanic capble of the rectification? alignment doesnt work.....keep feeling right front is lower...i suspected it has something to do with sterring linkage...but all mechanic says alignment can solve...but it doesnt... thanks
Aloskimo Neutral Newbie February 10, 2007 Share February 10, 2007 wat is the front end bearings u talked abt? is it the wheel bearings for front? thanks... e ball joint refers to the linkage to the drive shaft right? thanks
Yeobh 4th Gear February 10, 2007 Share February 10, 2007 Undercarriage measurement services is available at both Vicom and STA inspection centres. Yes front wheel bearing is a tapered roller bearing mounted at the centre of the wheel hub. You are right on ball joint. ↡ Advertisement
