Actually my car has HID lights but I still did a conversion.

What happened was the original HID ballast konked out and it costs $500 to replace ONE original ballast. So I had my mechanic modify my headlight to fit after-market Japanese brand HID bulbs that cost $500 for 2 ballasts and 2 bulbs.

Result: brighter and whiter than original! Best of all, it's less than 1/2 price of OEM.

My car already came with projector lens so there are no blinding-on-coming-traffic issues. I would suggest to anyone doind a HID conversion to get proper projector lens to control the spread and direction of the HID's...

actually without projectors also can get good effects....

the person doing the installations need to fit in the bulbs properly and also do focusing...

:D :D :D

i agree with you...

your original one is very expensive...

:D :D :D

aftermarket is cheaper...

now aftermarket with installations only S$300+++

very cheap....

Just curious, is the 8000k HID very bright and shine over greater distance compared original?

I am thinking of either conversing to HID or just change to Philips blubs which is much cheaper, if it only slightly brighter.

you can choose 6000k (white), 7000k (white-ish blue) or 8000k (blue-ish white) colour for HID.

No way for Philips bulbs to be brighter than HIDs...

as for glare....

if focused properly, philips bulbs will be more glaring....

only the driver in the car can see the road very well....

A friend of my mine recently installed a set of aftermarket HIDs on his Altis and it was a nightmare for me during our last outing. Although the installer lowered the angle, the beam was still very wide and glaring. I was in front and I can't see anything in my rear view mirror.

If I remembered correctly, its a Korean brand and he paid $450(including installation).

IMHO, forget about it. S'pore roads are already very well lit, it really causes alot of discomfot to other road users.

Lastly, you have to worry about ROV or TP everytime you drive at night.

All HID conversion is illegal, irregardless whether it's a projector or reflector based headlight setup.

Even for projector headlights, there r halo projector n HID projector.

I know this may offend certain car owners or seller of HID system but the fact is cars like Maszda3, Wish, Sonata, Magentis, Waja, 407, which come with original projector lens are design to be used with halogen light bulb, be it H4, H7 or H11, and no amount of adjusting or focusing will eliminate glare and shine like those real HID equipped car if u throw in a set of aftermarket HID, and this also appl y to cars that come with reflector housing, namely altis, vios, sunny, katio..etc.

The only way to have a good HID system that shine at the right angle, throw far and illuminate properly the road infront is to buy a car that come with it as original equipment. Furthermore, no need to worry abt TP/ROV on the road and also during roadblock.

Example of common jap car with original HId are the last batch of Gen7 and the current Gen8 civic, camry 2.4, lancer/colt turbo, evo, murano, jdm accord, thai accord 2.4(i think), etc.

this one i do not agree to it...

:D :D :D

i had successfully focused more than 100 cars which are not glaring....

:D :D :D

it is a skill....

:D :D :D

and installations is not just by plugging the bulbs into the holder for any cars....

:D :D :D

to each his own...

you got some points correct too so i will not argue further and i am not offended or angry...

cheers...
