Warped rims? anything else to check?

Yo dudes & dudettes,

ok, sent my car for servicing Saturday. Felt the steering has been funny for a while so asked them to rotate the wheels & do alignment at the same time. End result, was told that 3 of my rims are wobbling and can't be balanced properly [:p] knn.....

So before i go out and spend money i don't have for another set of rims [rifle] (sigh...), would appreciate some of your opinions on what could be the reason for my rims warping? I know i've hit some potholes & humps before at speed on drives into Malaysia, but to damage 3 rims?? Do i need to get my suspension checked? Is it worth to remove the tyres & get my rims checked for straightness? Anything else? Don't wanna spend money to replace the rims & end up with the same problem a few mths later...

thanks....

Maybe your driving style is very aggressive like going over potholes & hitting kerb?

Also do u do hard braking which cause very high heat from your brakes which have heated your rims too much which cause them to warp?

If your rims r not of high quality, this might happen.

I got a 2nd hand set of 5 rims (made in MY) for abt $150 & they seem to b very good without any wobble or vibrations.

U may want to consider a good set of 2nd hand rims which r quite cheap compared to new rims.

Many tyre shops have them. U just have to check with them.

Good luck. [wave]

try luck again in another workshop. mebbe his machine is missligned or the feller knows nuts what he is checking.

you used those CMI taiwanese replica? or light rims?

no choice replace them for ur own safety.replace them then check if ur alignments r ok.

Bro, Get it changed asap. Meanwhile, drive slowly and corner slowly.

Same problem as you couple of years back. Lost my control, even though momentarily doing a corner at 50km exiting thru ECP into Marine Parade.. and made friends with the lamp post.. 8k damage, claimed insurance.

Get a 2nd hand set of rims and dont bother trouble shooting ur current ones.. terrible waste of money. Trade them in for a 2nd hand. Hazardous..

yo, not really that aggressive lah [:p] and hard braking only occasionally when really really needed, even then i doubt it gets hot enough to warp the rims. i've checked for brake pad rubbing too and it seems ok. my current set is 2nd hand, most shops don't have rims suitable for my stupid car [:p]

thks!

yo bro, thks for the advise. already did today, same diagnosis. first diagnosis was from the big tyre chain megamart [:p] i saw the wheel wobbling on the machine there but was hoping their machine was really out of alignment, well no such luck i guess [laugh]

ya, looks like no choice but to replace & get the alignment done again. [sweatdrop]

wah, that sounds nasty [sweatdrop] already driving very slowly now. my current ones were bought 2nd hand, so a bit wary of them now. will look around to get it changed soon. thks!
