Which one do you guys usually go for first?

Brand or Specs.. lets say they are all very near

Example, DLS speaker of lower specs and Sony speaker of slightly higher specs

Brand is for reliality, usually good brand can use longer time.

Specs is for what you want, a good buyer will look at the high sensitivity if he/she choose a hifi, not brand at first.

When choosing speakers, i think specs only tell 1/4 of the story, the most impt is how you like the sound it produces. Every brand / model will have their own strengths and weakness. So before auditing any sound system, make sure it's within budget, or else poision yourself and cant afford. HAHAHA

sony, or any other japanese brand of speakers, was never really impressive in the audiophile world. they got lots to catch up with the european counterparts.

even alpine, a japanese brand, is using danish speakers rebadged under their flagship F#1 Status speakers.

absolutely. The Japanese didn't care to research on speakers that produce good sounds. They wanted to produce speakers which shoot lazer beams according to the music played...ok, juz talking c***.

Brands and specs are merely a guide for us to select our speakers, trust your own ear better [flowerface]

These Danish rebadged speakers that people are talking about... whats their original name/brand? might as well go direct if not for anything else right?

Bro,

of cos agree with you lah...already say I talking c*** liao...surely there are Jap brands that make good sounding speakers. But then, trust your own ears is surely the way to go. But I think not all of us have ears we can trust mah. Like that people no need to ask for opinion in the forum liao. Anyway, if you didn't understand what I mean when I said I was talking C***, I really meant I was talking C***. So...no basis talk. That's all there is to it. It was meant as a joke, whether lame or not. Can joke in the forum right? As long as I don't defame anything or anyone, since I made myself quite clear. [hur]
