Toe Adjustment Needed?

I recently swopped out my OEM tires (175/70 R14) to G3s (185/65 R14). Yeah the cornering is better now but my wheel alignment seems to have gone out. I think the car seems to drift right. My girlfriend is pretty sure the alignment is gone too but she seems to think it's the other direction. The question: is it possible for the wheels to go off alignment after swopping to a wider tyre? Do I need toe adjustments? Also, does anyone know any shop that can do a good job (and not expensive)? Thanks!

U're alignment is definitely out but it might not be due to the tyre change. U need to ensure that your tyre are balance before installing it. Changing to a wider tyre does not require a wheel alignment, but if you change your spring, suspension and rims then a wheel alignment is require.

U're alignment is out might be due to prolong drive. Wheel alignment is adjusted by 2 nuts, dunno wat they call. Maybe the nuts are loosen. Try going down a slope with alot of lines. When ure car jerk thru the line, did u hear any cranking sound under the bonnet ? If u do, the nuts are loosen. (I hit that once)sweatdrop.gif

Best is to go for alignment after new tyre change to minimize unnecessary tyre wear and to track straight again....thumbsup.gif

Yup, Riverview is one of the places to do your wheel alignments. nod.gif Try to do it whenever you change tyres to be safe. wink.gif

Let me know how the G3s go. Feedback I got was more noise and tendency to tramline. Recently changed them coz the rear tyres steel belts broke and started getting bulges on the inside tyre sidewall, whole started rumbling after that. sweatdrop.gif Might be a one off tho.

G3s are still going strong for me. I can't be bothered about road noise as my stereo is on loud and my old tyres were loud to begin with so I don't have anything quiet to compare against. No complains about them per se. In fact, I think they hold the road fantastically well and my cornering is good (thereby increasing my confidence with the car). Braking has also improved tremendously. Maybe I tell you more after one year? sly.gif

IMHO, your experience with the sidewall problem is a one off but don't quote me.

Yup, road noise is subjective to the driver. nod.gif Good that youre enjoying your new tyres...give them a few hundred kms to scrub in first. wink.gif

We can talk more when we next meet. nod.gif

They already gone through a few hundred km already lah. I seriously cannot tell lah. If I'm alone, the stereo is very loud, or my window is rolled down and I can't hear a dem thing above the wind noise. If gf in car, I think her voice louder than stereo and tyre noise! sweatdrop.giflaugh.gif

laugh.gif In that case, since noise doesnt matter, and the tyres gives you the grip and handling capabilities, then you've a good buy ! wink.gifthumbsup.gif
