Metalbone Clutched June 28, 2006 Share June 28, 2006 So far so good, some points below: Pros: - Spacious. - Dashboard looks futuristic with the digital speedometer. - Bulit-in 6CD mp3/wma changer. - Steering wheel audio switches. - Looks fierce with bodykit. - Very stable at >120km/h probably due to the longer wheelbase. Cons: - Initial acceleration is slow cos is a 1.2 ton! - FC is only good if u go highway often. - Sound proofing so so only. - A few blind spots to be careful of. - No boot insulator. - Expensive in price and insurance. Hope this helps. ↡ Advertisement
Ronnie Neutral Newbie June 28, 2006 Share June 28, 2006 (edited) Hi, I'm currently thinking of changing my ride to the new Honda Civic 1.8. It looks really cool on the road & I bet the numbers of it on the road are growing fast. But first, I would like hear some reviews from any of the owners here. Anyone? Thanks. why get the 1.8 when you have the 2L++ version? price range not too far away, plus got steptronic, BK, rims and all the works. but frankly i will go for the hybrid. with the sort of distance i travel.. hehe Edited June 28, 2006 by Ronnie
Jnetjnjn Neutral Newbie June 28, 2006 Author Share June 28, 2006 Thanks for the detailed info. My friend did a test drive the other day & was quite impressed with it. He's currently driving a Stream 2.0 but he told me that he doesn't mind changing it to the new Civic 1.8L. Guess he must be pretty satisfied with Civic's performance. Kax2 Neutral Newbie July 5, 2006 Share July 5, 2006 Hybrid may looks good on fuel saving, but if you looked at specs, it's actually 150kg heavier than a petrol civic and 40 ps less. So you are actually paying more for a less powerful but more fuel efficient engine. IMHO, the percentage of fuel saving gain does not equilibate the percentage loss in horsepower. Grunt72 Neutral Newbie July 5, 2006 Share July 5, 2006 I test drove the 1.8L manual Civic FD and am also quite impressed with the power. Although SOHC, it is perky and revvy. So a good compromise of power and economy. But am also sure that the 2.0L version would be more fun to drive. As for the shape...either love it or hate it... Mycar008 Neutral Newbie November 1, 2006 Share November 1, 2006 Yeah ... Insurance is not really alot. $2000 for me. If i were go to for Altis, it will cost me S$1,700. (First time car owner). When I book last week, price at $69K for 1.6 Model, yes it may drop further. Maybe will be $63K by next Mid 2007. (If COE stays around $10K). Hahaha... y 1.6? coz 1.8 has to wait for 4months leh. Carfan Neutral Newbie November 1, 2006 Share November 1, 2006 New civic is generally quite comfortable and quiet compared to older civic. If you are the power type, try to go for 2.0 manual straight. This prevents you from itching to mod just to get more horses and ending up spending more money. Worse still, even want to sell early and get a more powerful one. ↡ Advertisement
