Saw the Shell got the Donax-TX ATF for S$6.25/L, claimed is fully synthetic and above DexronIII (Mineral). Any comments?

Dear all, (firstly me new bird here, so hello everyone!! [;)] )

Have a ques... I would like to drain and top-up my astra atf. The opel agent STA listed the grade as "special oil". Any idea anyone if I can get this oil outside or perhaps do a flush with Jap oil at Autobacs? I have no idea what is "special oil". [:|] Perhaps I could use DEXRON

Hi Mitch, welcome to MCF! [cool]

Does your owner's manual spec Dexron II/III ATF? If only "Special" ATF is indicated then it's better to stick to OEM ATF. Certain makes have different formulated oils/lubricants made for their cars. I suggest U look to parts shop selling Opel stuff that can supply U the ATF cheaper than agent. [;)]

Hi TB,

have U used up Amsoil yet? Got left over to supply moi? Thinking of flushing my trans. If not what is a good brand.

BTW, besides BVO at sin ming, any good recommendations at JB? [:p] If U go into JB, can tag along or not? [blush]

Too bad missed your gathering at your place cum mini workshop yesterday. [:/]

Cheers,

CK

My AMSOIL shipment stuck in the US, still waiting patiently for it to come [:/]

JB workshops have the ATF flush machine as well and they charge RM50 for labor and usage of the machine [;)]

If U want to do the ATF flush earlier, perhaps U can try getting some Royal Purple Syn ATF instead.

Ya, I would like to do that. Does it mean that I need to buy the RP from Sg distributor? What abt a ATF cooler? Is it advisable or a waste of $$$?

Hi Mitch

I would recommend you to go back agent for your ATF replacing cos our opel astrra1.6 and zafira1.8 are using special ATF as mentioned. That was because our autogear will automatically switch to N from D during stationary even though it was still in D. And according to specifications, its can save up to 5% petrol.

Happy driving!!! [;)][;)][;)]

Hi Zaf18 and TurboB and all!!

I went down to STA and check out my auto trans "special" atf. It comes in a 1ltr bottle. Too bad nothing about the specs or fomula is printed on the bottle [:(] . How to find alternative, not even Dexron II/III if the requirement is kept secret man! Zaf18, the bottle cost $16/ltr and made in austria. You need abt 3-4 ltrs to drain and refill for both our models. I'm thinking of diy around year end. Probably need to locate a service ramp to do this. Willing to try out, let me know... [cool]cheers and tks all!
