Hi Spotty, [:)]

Got the idea from opel car forum.

The price of your new battery is reasonable.

We really need to share infos on skoda car because our numbers are small.

Hi. Just to share my latest encounter with the battery problem. I was away for 7 days and left my car at the car-park. Yesterday, I tried to start & guess what?

It couldn't start. I walked to the nearest tyre & battery shop about 700 meters away from my flat(no public bus) and ask the young man to replaced it with a new VARTA battery. Total cost $165-00. (inclusive of tpt).

(I encountered the same problem with my previous car, SEAT. I am just wondering is this a common problem among continental cars?)

Comments anyone?

I am not too sure if 7 days is too long a period. I was out station for 5 days (Sunday Morning till Thursday Midnite), I left my car in the car park. When I am back, the engine jumps into life at the very 1st crank!!! So in my case, it is okay.

Am told to disconnect the -ve of the battery if you are away for an extend period of time, to prevent battery being drained. Not too sure if it helps.

Today, notice the first sign of battery weaken and needs attention or replacement.

During cranking, noticed that the cabin light flicker, have not noticed that b4.

Look like joining the battery change group very soon.

Current battery lifespan - 19 months going for 20.

If got AA membership then no need. Battery kaput, just call them and they will replace the battery and charge you. no need to lug a battery around

Hi Sonnytay

Agree with Skodaman. Just call AA.

Anyway, the AA membership is really quite useful and their service is pretty fast too.

They have a whole range of car battery, those used in Jap cars as well as conti cars. Very well-equipped! [:)]

Best regards,

spotty [sunny]
