For the starting part, sud b no problem.

The problem is newer cars with ECU might cause ECU to damage when u jump start.

I think u got to follow a procedure to jump-start newer cars.

Although I did jump start a 6 mth old Kia with my car & it was still good & running when I left.

Dunno leh. I only know they called MF battery cos it's sealed & no need to top-up water.

Dry-cell is like those Eveready torch battery.

after starting and car dies, could be the alternator?

cos after the engine runs, the alternator (generating a higher voltage than the battery) will power the car...

i think maintenance free also called dry cell.

Instead of water being the electrolyte, a kind of gel is used in place... and the battery is sealed.

This makes the battery 'dry'?

being 'dry', they can be mounted in any orientation and won't spill..

Hmmmmm...... OK.

But now must not confuse with those torch battery which is also called Dry Cell.

The gel type is only some brands like Exide right? Many others use water which some can even b topped up via a removable disc on the top.

Or do all "dry-cell" use gel? And cannot b topped up?

Sounds like the symptoms of when my alternator died on me.

How long has it been since this incident?

Sometimes the alternator cannot give a full charge & problem is compounded by a weak battery.

Maybe u sud get the alternator charging checked by you workshop? B4 u have another stalling story to tell.

Hahaha. Sorry didnt mean to worry u but I had those symptoms when my alternator died.

There were no symptoms at first, but I have those battery tester in my ciggy socket & when I started the car, only the red light came on even when I revved it a little.

I quickly shut off all unnecessary electricals & drove straight to the WS to get a 2nd hand alternator. Saved me the towing fee.

Managed to get my car to the WS with only the reserve power stored in the battery.
