though jazzz is marketed as a 1.4litre..it is in fact juz a 1.3litre.. unless u zhng the jazz stock for stock how can a jazz be more powerful than a vios 1.5

vvti is proven to optimized fuel efficeincy and low end torque... though there are many cynics, what i can say is tt bmw adopts a similar system call the vanos... using valve phasing... so DOHC is needed...

as for sohc jazz there is no valve varying concepts used in the engine.. the capacity is small 2 valves per cylinder will suffice so there is no need for dohc... this opens up the space for an extra spark plug.. the only other maker using dual spark plug is alfa romeo... doesnt see the benefits of it... though some might say fuel efficient.. but might be due to its small capacity nia...

how can they say tt jazz engine is better? maybe more fuel efficient. Toyota engines don't sound inspiring, but they have decent power n fuel efficiency [thumbsup]

Vios VVTi engine is good but the Quality Control of this Thai assembled product is of serious doubt.

admit vios c/w VVti and DOHC [thumbsup], purely compare technology vios will win Jazz [nod], but, but thai made vios quality will lose its all advantage, if vios were made in Jap, everything will be clear [thumbsup] , of course price also [laugh][laugh]

The Vios has 109 bhp while the Jazz has only 83 bhp...

HOWEVER, Jazz uses CVT (much lower power losses) and pow-steering using servos (electrical system, not hydraulics) while VIOS uses conventional auro-trans and hydraulic pow-steering...

So, translated to the wheel, both cars will have roughly the same horses... With the Jazz having designed for low end torque, the Jazz driver will find driving in urban conditions more enjoyable while the Vios having better aero-dynamics and higher end torque should see a marked improvement when driving on the highways...

just my humble opinion...

cvt doesnt translate to lower power losses... it is juz smoother...

dun see the real benefits or electrical power steering cos some car makers reverting back to hydraulics.

both jazz and vios are designed to maximise low end torque...

CVT lower losses? i quoted from the Temple of VTEC Asia webpage...

Using electrical system? the pow-steering dun draw power directly from the engine...

and nope, i dun own or drive a Jazz...
