Mkvgti Neutral Newbie May 31, 2006 Share May 31, 2006 Not entirely true with your pricing just over the north. Espesially on the Hondas and Toyotas. Not sure about the other makes.

Ah_liang Clutched May 31, 2006 Share May 31, 2006 Well, why dun you try earning, buying a other-than-made-in-malaysia and maintain that car in RM. You can see the living standards in Malaysia is very higher than SGP.

Finclk 1st Gear June 1, 2006 Share June 1, 2006 Actually COE is good. It controls car population. In fact, I want 2 options 1) Scrap ARF componenet. With ARF scrapped, government loses taxes but the COE is still present to control car population. Market forces will determine the final price of the COE. 2) Scrap COE. Increase ARF many more times. Only the rich can drive and afford. I like things to go back to the mid 90's where prices were so high. This ensures a low car population and there's a minimum amt of prestige for people driving cars. :)
Atlantis_boi Clutched June 1, 2006 Share June 1, 2006 The only reason I can tink of is the taiwanese will rebel & riot if done so. Unlike singaporean, 'hen ting hua' including myself

A Litre of Ron98 is even cheaper than the diesel pricing now.

Tploh Clutched June 1, 2006 Share June 1, 2006 Not entirely true with your pricing just over the north. Espesially on the Hondas and Toyotas. Not sure about the other makes. Over North, they have invented 'AP' for imported cars, somewhat similar to COE in effects.
Nutty 4th Gear June 1, 2006 Share June 1, 2006 What if 90% of the population turns "hen bu ting hua"?
Nutty 4th Gear June 1, 2006 Share June 1, 2006 I would prefer to scrap the ARF component. IMO, ARF is an excuse to increase the gahment's coffers. Let COE be the main determinant and make the whole system simpler.
