Just now when I started my car at about 3am, it suddenly died half-way out in the carpark (I think because I was doing something and didn't clutch in, hence car stalled). I kept trying to crank it but it wouldnt start, so lan lan had to push it to the disabled lot. I checked the battery and the reading still said "OK", so what could be the problem?

Really appreciate if anyone can advise me, as I will be calling a mech in the morning, just don't want to kena chop. Also would it help if I just got someone to help me jump-start the car? Thanks in advance! [sweatdrop][:/]

The last time my car stalled while crusing and cannot restart and had to be towed to my mechanics, it was the distributor problem. Replaced with a 2nd hand distributor and its working fine till now. smile.gif

Thanks just settled the problem, called the mech bro Pisces69 recommended me as he stays in Yishun too. He came down at ard 8+ to diagnose, went to get the part then came back and just finished installing it for me. Now thats what I call fast service haha.. [thumbsup]

Problem was with the ignition system like you thought. No electricity was reaching the spark plugs from the ignition coil as the cable had snapped due to age. In all, changed the distributor cap, spark plug cables and ignition coil lead. Car seems slightly more responsive now [thumbsup]

Just some info for whoever might run into similar problems in the future [;)]

Thats what he initially thought, but when we popped the hood, the snapped cable was quite obvious in the daylight [laugh]

Cost me $90. I feel it could have been slightly cheaper, don't think the part is that expensive, but considering he made 2 trips to my place, maybe to elsewhere to collect the part, and installed it for me all within 2hrs, was a pretty allright deal la. Somemore I saved $30? by not having to tow the car. Will definitely use him again in the future, any bros staying in the North want his contact can pm me [;)]

Bro,

if its the high tension cable, that's serious, can cause fire you know.

I suspect is the small cable for the contact point issit. secured to the distributor cable, for old carb engine.

It was the single cable that leads from somewhere to the distributor cap that snapped. Is this the cable you're referring to? Btw my car is FI, not carb. [sweatdrop]
