EventH 1st Gear June 6, 2006 Share June 6, 2006 (edited) Got Siam Goodyear Eagle, Bridgestone MY-01 and Philipines Yoko A.Drive R1. All pretty good stuff ... but the elitist will snub them. I heard even Pirelli Dragons are also from SEA. Edited June 6, 2006 by EventH

Tyreboy Neutral Newbie June 6, 2006 Share June 6, 2006 heard goodyear singapore is not going to bring in germany made f1 soon due to high cost (euro currency etc), they may bring in made from china.
EventH 1st Gear June 6, 2006 Share June 6, 2006 How typical of companies ... make sure they sell them at a lower price to reflect their "lower cost". I think the Asian spec tyres are more suitable for local conditions. QC is another story altogether.
Slee Neutral Newbie June 6, 2006 Share June 6, 2006 but I dun think the big players will want to risk QC problems for the sake of cutting cost ... it may cost them more in the long run ... and reputation which takes years to build up right ?
EventH 1st Gear June 6, 2006 Share June 6, 2006 (edited) Companies come and go.The good ones are those that make the biggest buck for their owners before they fail. Its all about the bottomline. (my opinion don't quote me) In the singapore market, Made in Europe means got class, Made in Japan still represents quality. Made in Korea is still ranked higher than Made in ASEAN. Made in ROC ...???? dunno where to put them. This is all perceived of course, the truth remains to be seen. QC is good as long as one don't kenna the mext lemon. Tyreboy Neutral Newbie June 6, 2006 Share June 6, 2006 dun be wrong, goodyear engineers will be supervising the QC in the manufacturing plant...to cut down manufacturing/laour/tax cost, shift to asia country loh....common among MNC companies...just like Michelin also doing the same thing.... Solsys Neutral Newbie May 8, 2018 Share May 8, 2018 How cheap is cheap? Are they any cheaper/better than Korean tyres? Just asking. I remember looking around for at least 5 quotes and Nankang was the cheapest. Drove the 2.5l car for about 4 years with no problems (little wear tear) before selling off. One tyre was less than $90.
