no no ... u got me wrong

i mean if we on the AC, then it'll b minimal (windows up)

and if we wind the window, it wont b fully down too(AC off) ..

cos i scared cold..........

from ur remark, looks like gals in general dun like the windows to be wound down.. muz be scared the wind mess up their hair, so used the excuse 'scared cold'!! [laugh]

juz kidding, no offence meant!

I also admit i am like u, when driving sometimes in the day( not scorching hot though), I juz wind down a bit or not at all if short dist. I still won't sweat!(u might not believe, but it's true!)

Another way is to anticipate traffic conditions to minimise unneccessary braking( for e.g. u can see the traffic lights are red from afar, let the car roll to the lights. Sometimes, by the time u reach the lights, it is green, so u dun need to brake which means energy saved)

On the expressway, can oso apply this principle(eg from afar, u see traffic is slow-moving, time to ease off accelerator!) try it out & see if it works for u!!

oh gosh .. its not abt the wind messing up my hair .. for all u know my hair could b short like sammi cheng or quan yi feng ..lipsrsealed.gif haha ...

yea.. the wind blowing into ur face .. esp if you r on a "car-less" road ... the wind is exceptionally refreshing..

as for ur anticipating traffic conditions .. my instructor teach me b4 le ...

and minus point is if you let the car roll to the lights and there are cars behind you, you might risk them horning you ....

which can b thumbsdown.gif

oops, guess i forgot to add in this pt in my last posting.. Only roll when u see no cars behind or the car behind is not 'pushing' u.....

Well, all said and done, if fc still remains same, accept it for what it is.. Getz is really a fun car to drive, with decent handling, engine refinement(when cruising<2500rpm), handsome from all angles(make u smile whenever u walk to it), youthful image etc...Coupled the above with the lower overall cost of buying, whole experience sure overcomes the fc factor, rite?

btw, how much did ur ex pay for his ride?

i cant remem .. i only know he take $0 downpayment and 10 year loan ...

i only know dat its very expensive compared to the car prices now ... he got it in end 2004 ba .... i think ..

and BTW i sat in my frens 1.3A getz and a fren's Vios ..

i noticed dat although getz look small on the exterior, its actually very roomy ..

and though Vios look big .. but its like so Squeezy ....

u r spot on! the getz interior is spacious for its class. [thumbsup]

i ever sat in my colleague's altis, which claims to be spacious. To my surprise, the altis's headroom and legroom(rear)loses to getz! So needless to say, Vios-smaller bro of altis will be cramped! anyway, was considering vios till i notice the speedometer is in the centre, which IMHO makes area behind steering wheel so weird(blank space)! So a big turn-off for me!

yeah .. i was amazed at the roominess too ..if i din sit in the vios back seat, i wouldnt have realized it too ..

when i first sat in another of my frens Vios, i was like " y the speedo n the watever thingys all in the middle?? so wierd "

haha .. but all things aside. Its the highest FC car (up to 18km/l) dat i know of now ... except for mayb picanto or cherry QQ

yup, vios fc is gd for its class and the power it gives! think u misunderstood the term ' high fc ', which means bad fc! should be lowest fc! [;)]

Yup, u r rite on the 'lower rpm drink less' theory, but only on straight roads or slightest of inclines.. But when faced with a steep slope(think bejamin sheares bridge), whether with load or not, maintaining at 2000rpm might not seem wise as the poor engine is struggling, which affects fc. The time spent climbing is significantly longer then if u climb it at 2500rpm which sounds logical. smile.gif

U said it, i dunno how to put it into words haha... Benjamin Shear Bridge that inclination is a killer for most underpowered car (especially when full load)... auto tranny bound to down gear one.... some time i peh cek, i jus rev to high RPM, climb it fast and drop back to low RPM... think that make more sense.... rolleyes.gif

let's say u climb benjamin sheares slope at 2000rpm, as compared to climbing it at 3000rpm , i m quite sure that the time taken is easily twice as longer which means (in layman terms), the engine need only to work (3000/2000)= 1.5 times as harder to complete its suffering faster by 2 times. correct me if i m wrong!!

U r looking at "how hard the engine work (RPM)" VS "How long does it take to climb the slope"

I am more interested in:

"Amount of petrol used to climb the slope at 2000 RPM at 2 x T secs" VS "Amount of petrol taken to climb the slope at 3000 RPM at T secs"

where T is the time taken to climb the slope. So i am assuming at 2000 RPM, the car took twice as long to climb the slope as compared to at 3000 RPM.

Getting mathematical here huh.. laugh.gif

To me there is no suffering because me siting inside car, aircon.... so no sufferring... petrol consumption is more impt... laugh.gif

gosh... this is all getting a bit complex..... [dizzy]

anyway, if u r free or happen to pass by benjamin sheares, u can climb at 2000rpm and 3000rpm respectively and time how long u take for each climb. (ideally, to be done under light traffic conditions) This is to further convince ourselves that it's worthwhile to rev up sometimes... if u find it heart-breaking to rev, can think of it as a rare chance to clear carbon.. [laugh]

a simple analog given by my mechanic. for the case of staying at 2000rpm, it's like asking the engine to run up the slope after juz eating sugar and a glass of water. at 3000rpm, it's like asking engine to run up the slope, but after eating a proper meal. of coz, the latter is better, rite?
