Are there any of you bros who have open-pod or drop-in or cone air filters on their starlets? Do share your experience, pros, cons, importantly the costs involved (long term / short term).

Am planning to change my 'millenium falcon' but need some advise. [dizzy]

yup...YUMYUM [laugh]

was really tempted to change to thoes high tech,

nice looking open pod ones

but after ur explaination why Burger is better

cos of the air intake area being larger

i started to appreciate it !

sorry to be a KPO... [:p]

we tok abt it during one of the meet up.

basically he mentioned to me tat the hambuger air filter

has a even air intake area as opposed to the newer open pod

filter whose area will get narrower at one of the end.

may he can tell us more on it.

[:)]

cheers

Its not the area of the filter that is important. Its the flow rate (related to volume) and the filtration levels that is.

If talking about volume, the intake is limited to the volume of air being able to pass though the smallest diameter in the piping. In the case of standard filters, the opening to allow air in is usually smaller than the piping that runs from the filter to the throttle body.

All aftermarket PODs have holes that are at least the same size as that piping that runs to the TB. Also the larger surface area of the filter allows the enough air to flow in to make the diffence in volume and speed of the air that is going though the filter and flowing in the piping negligible.

the best part is the burger is directly mounted on top of the carb. [sly]

minimum losses coz no pipings at all! [thumbsup]

flow rate is thus improved significantly. [cool]

Ahh sill me... didnt forgot that there are quite a few carby starlets... heheh must use a hole saw poke a hole in the bonnet and make sure the hamburger filter sits outside... CAI and RAM air effect both without much piping work [sly]
