Was so happy that they finally made a CF version bonnet for the new imprezas until I called up e shop... Charging @ $1900 (with CF Air Scoop) .... [whip] Other models $1.1k - $1.2k Reasons are CF is getting rather rare at the moment and their version is super light 8KG ... [lipsrsealed] Not even sure If can pass LTA inspection. Anyone here done CF bonnets or Spoilers yet, does the car really feel much lighter?

$1900 is pretty reasonable compared with mine. I paid $2550 excluding paint and installation. Mine is made by Vorsteiner and it's dual layer carbon fibre, not only the vents, but the whole bonnet, outside and inside.

Compared with my original bonnet, it's ridiculously light. I can lift it up with my little finger easily. I did notice that the car accelerated a bit faster too. Not very much but still noticeable. I also noticed my fuel comsumption dropped a liiiiiiiitle bit. But that can be other things.

Don't know about the LTA thing. Does anyone know?

Very nice! [inlove]

The brand they quoted me was Varis (made in Japan) and there's also made in Taiwan versions for about 1k. I really need to know if it's LTA arrpoved too hehe. LMK if u ever find out ^^. Still 2k for a bonnet [smallcry] , does the excess weight shed off help in your FC?

Logically speaking it should help in your FC as it saves about 40kg on my car. 40kg is a lot!! To shave that kind of weight off other parts of your car, you will definitely have to pay more than $2k!

My main concern about this mod is that is upsets the weight distribution of the car. But it shouldn't affect that much lah. The bonnet got function one. Not only swee, also saves weight, saves petrol and keep the engine cool at the same time.

If you're considering a bonnet with vents like mine, do bear in mind that you probably cannot run an open pod air filter. Also, you have to be prepared to glue on all the things like front grille, wiper washer... as the clips will be unlikely to fit on aftermarket bonnets.

Marcz:

You can spray your car the same colour also mah. Just tell them it's BMW Tourmaline Violet.

Raul07:

I imported the bonnet from the US, then had it painted and installed at Sin Wee Chuan at Ubi Road 1. You can either buy a whole bonnet that's designed for the Sunny then install it or find a workshop that can cut the vents for you. So far, I don't think any workshop here can do a really nice job. But I bet after some time, sure got one...

Sorry, I edited my message above.

Anyway, I was just saying you can either buy one that's designed for the Sunny or find someone who can cut the vents for you on your existing bonnet.

So far, I dunno any worshop here who can do a decent job of it yet... Once someone can do it, sure huat one!

No... CF bonnet will never pass LTA inspection. Fail under body/chassis integrity regulation. Spoiler is fine as long as it's bolt on. In fact, front tower strut will fail also if it's not factory fitted. But usually they give verbal warning on strut bar and let you go.

Thanks Odyssey02. More important is the mods underneath lah. After it's all done, my final step will be to put on a 316i badge, hehe... Stands for $31.6k spent.

I didn't know about the LTA thing. Sigh...

I don't think I need to glue on anything, they said everything is custom made for the 06 imprezas be it TS or Rex. 1 Question where did u keep your old bonnet? Bring it home in case of LTA inspection put back?
