Citroen team boss Guy Frequelin has said Carlos Sainz's victory on the Rally of Turkey is even better than the team's debut win in Corsica in 2001.

Jesus Puras scored the French team's maiden win on the island's notorious twisty tarmac, but Frequelin says Sainz's win on Turkey's gravel is more important for the team's future.

Probably not in the near future - work started on the Xsara WRC car way back in 1998 and it's only in its first full season, so Citroen wouldn't want to be hasty to start on a new platform when the existing one is so finely honed already...

The road car is getting long in the tooth - the WRC version is meanwhile blasting away the competition... don't supposed they care for damped grab handles? [sly]

Hot off the press!

Citroen has unveiled its latest concept car at the Geneva Motor Sshow, the C2 Citroen Sport, which looks set to replace the Saxo in the Junior World Rally Championship.

Based on the forthcoming C2, the concept car with its stonking flared wheel-arches and mega rear wing, looks every inch a winner. It has a 225bhp, 1600cc engine and six-speed gearbox. A debut event for the C2 Sport has yet to be scheduled.
