Sevenz Neutral Newbie May 6, 2006 Share May 6, 2006 Hi Bros, Was thinking of changing to GSD3 soon, but not sure how is the performance of this Thai-made tyre. Understand that the foreign made one is ok. Any feedback on this? Thanks! :) ↡ Advertisement
Teddi Neutral Newbie May 6, 2006 Share May 6, 2006 GSD3 is German made. Thai Made is Goodyear F1 It depends how you drive. If you don't have a >140 bph ride, Thai made is ok. Unless you speed in the wet.....
Kokweetan77 Neutral Newbie May 6, 2006 Share May 6, 2006 few yrs back i bought a set from P H but should be the thai made one . the grip are superb , going on tight corner single lane effortlessly, no screechig sound at all . only hear the roaring sound of the tyre bitting on the tarmac road ! Southpark2000 Neutral Newbie May 7, 2006 Share May 7, 2006 (edited) Field Report ------------- Tire: Goodyear F1 GS-D3 Size: 195/50/15 Cty of Origin: Thailand Price: $90 ea. Vehicle: Honda Jazz 1.4L (2005 F/L version) Mods: Nil (okay, only an EZ-Stab, stab bar, n Mugen bodykit) Mileage on tyres: 1000km on the rubbers. Compared to my stock c.drive: 1. Noiser but by not much. (depends on the road lah....for those good ones, quiet; those rougher ones - F1 will make more noise than the c.drive) 2. Grip a whole lot better. Much more confidence on dry, and taking the corners. On wet, can really laugh at the rest of the drivers. Seriously - u feel the car drives like it is on dry roads when wet. 3. Comfort. Stiff and hard. Less spongy than c.drive. I use to bop up n down with my c.drive. Ride is much stiffer. My care used to absorb shocks from thunder well, but after change, the alarm became more sensitive and I had to tune it down. 4. Wear. Can't tell as yet. Rated 280 though. No comparatives against German made ones as I hav not experienced it. Conclusion? ------------- "Good ride, very quiet (for perf. tires that is), good grip" Wld buy it again? ------------------- Hell yes!!!. Better it be loud but safe than quiet but dangerous. Silver_blade Turbocharged May 7, 2006 Share May 7, 2006 I have both the german and thai made ones on my mum's and my car, respectively. No marked difference between the two.

Tminsen Neutral Newbie May 7, 2006 Share May 7, 2006 its true that the thai made is meant for our climate.... sonner or later the german spec will be made in thailand cos the specs not popular in europe.. nonetheless, thers no difference bewtten the two..only psychological that ppl thought that made in german is better....the QA for thailand made is better. Helix Neutral Newbie May 7, 2006 Share May 7, 2006 Seconded. I'm running on German GSD3 and I can only say that it will be them again when it's time to change rubber. Thai or German made is not the issue now. At this moment, $$ is more important to me now than a mere fraction (if there's any) of performance deifference. Metalslug Neutral Newbie May 7, 2006 Share May 7, 2006 what difference is there? i am on the thai made ones, 16". superb tires to go for if u want safety and performance. one of the best tires i have used... worth every cent of it. plus the thread looks damn cool! Helix Neutral Newbie May 7, 2006 Share May 7, 2006 (edited) As I stated, I don't know if there's any difference. I don't care. I'm running on 16" German manufactured ones. It's good enough for everyday driving. If I'm changing now, I wouldn't mind changing to the Thai ones as I rather save the $$ now. Trag22 Neutral Newbie May 12, 2006 Share May 12, 2006 Just change my tryes (205/50/R16) to Thai made F1 GSD3 at Leong Seng for $115 each. As compared to my old yokohama tyres, the G3 is more quieter and was satisfied with the tyres performance. (info:The german made G3 cost $165 each)
