Don't mind me, for now, I'm only posting hatchbacks for , please correct me posts if any figures are wrong... these are all general and stock figures I gathered. Do include other hatchbacks if I have excluded them and worthy of the below 10 second mark.

The fastest hatchback on the road is the Golf R32. - 6.2

the 2nd fastest is VW Golf GTi - 6.9, tied in place with Civic hatchback type R

the 3rd fastest is the Daihatsu VW YRV Turbo - 7.1 seconds

the 4th is the Mistubishi Colt Plus Turbo - 8.4

the 5th fastest is the Swift Sport - 8.5

then Getz 1.5L M is around 9.5 seconds and quite a number of other hatchbacks are around that figure too.

under performing "sports" hatchbacks...

The Toyota IST 1.3L's and it's acceleration from 0-100km/h is 11.3 seconds.

All small thrill ......if acceleration is all you want .....try the reverse bungee ...or any bungee for that matter ..

If stationary no problem ... Do a 6000rpm Launch... At the next traffic light the only thing that needs sorting is a blown gearbox. [laugh]

But STi different though... [lipsrsealed]

Eh.. maybe a new clutch plate need to be ordered also... [sweatdrop]

erm...STi.. I think Evo is still my preferred... but a scooby will be a scooby.. some like, some don't like.. So let's agree to disagree on the like and dislike [:)]

Everyone have their own preference. In my opinion I reckon both cars have its strength and weakness. Its more of a matter of which aspect your more tolerant to.

If you think the debate between Evo and STi in Singapore is bad, try looking at other countries particularly downunder. I enjoy reading these things and see people argue over meaningless issues as well as enjoying a joke or two along the way.

A car is just like any other product. Eg. Like toothbrushes they all serve the same purpose but we often stress over which brand to choose from. If a car was made so that everybody loved it, there would never be so many makes and models. There'll be only 1 brand and everybody will be driving it. Life would be boring. [laugh]

But honestly after reading a few comments with regards between Evo or STi debates, I often see Evos get the picks simply because there were too many STis in Singapore. In my opinion that would be the saddest decision a person have to ever make because he/she now purchase a car not because he/she liked but simply because there were too many on the road. Do we buy a car that people would love to see me in or do I buy a car that I would like to see myself in. [gossip]

Jump from Ocbc building also very thrilling hor, but must think carefully cos can only do once. [laugh]

Anyway i think most of these hatchbacks also win mother nature. Definitely more than 9.81m/s acceleration

Erm, depends... but I do agree that some people see the rarity of cars before they buy one.. well, different people, different criteria of car shopping.

Which "next base one"? I think the one I was talking about is placed at the cashier counter. did you went up to the ICE dept to look see look see? So how much does the one he promoted cost?

Eh... the one which i was talking about seems to have such features as well.. but not sure about the format which it can support.

And I'm sure it's less than $400.. but the lelong was quite some time ago..not sure if they still have it..

paper figures should be correct, well I invited everyone to publish their findings... that means they can slot in between the list I provided, by the way the Getz 1.5L M is sold in SG, I asked at Komodo motors... and then test drove it, it's quite rare, but they do sell it.

Also this thread is about acceleration, not about speed, sorry, speed enthusiasts... life above 100km/h is dangerous and prone to speeding tickets outside the race tracks. I despise street speeders, they have no concern over their family's safety, passenger's safety, other road users safety and pedestrians' safety. Race tracks are another matter.. that's designed for high speeds and safety. It just takes one accident to make one realise that street speeding is fatally dangerous. Worse, end up quadraplegic on life support for the rest of your life.

CVT is not the cause of slowness, it's the IDSi. Try the CVT using Vtec engine & will get a different result (City Vtec, Civic Vti ES1)

IDSi is more for good FC. To be able to provide good FC means fuel inject at very lean form....... The rest no need to explain.

yah...i suppose these paper figures means u must floor your accelerator

Not only that. There r other factors like weather condition, fuel used, how u launch the car etc etc..

Guess the paper figure is obtained under the most desirable condition.

usually that is the case, in real life its usually +1,+2 secs....but nevertheless cars with sub 7-8 timing on paper still feels pretty fast to sit in [drivingcar]

Not true lah, in 5 sec gravity can accelerate you to 49 m/s which is 176 km/h. I think it takes top fuel dragsters to do that.
