Skoda taxis are very powerful.

Dun think any 1.6L or maybe higher cc passenger car can take them.

I have seen a Skoda taking off from red light, can see it "chiong"

I think it has to be turbocharged for it to pick up so fast.

Hi NKPS, after scrapping my Stellar, I wanted to get the 2.0L Sonata which is still affordable but somehow, my family (both my children were still young) and I don't quite like the front grille and headlight design.

Eventually, settled for a 2nd hand Subaru Legacy. Soon after, I was provided with a Porsche 911 for daily and personal use by my boss then. As the Porsche is only a 2+2 seater with cramped space at the back, my wife used the Subaru Legacy to work cum family car.

Just now happen to see some new Comfort Hyundai Sonata taxi on its way from Jurong to Comfort Head office, it is the new Sonata that Hyundai is selling right now, I can see that the current Sonata drivers will bang balls.

Think there are more Sonata Taxi soon and probably will be replacing the lousy and old Toyota Crown....Guess really pity those Sonata owners who have bought it earlier on.

Actually it might be a good thing cos spares will be widely available and cheap.

IMO if it's good enuf to be used as a taxi, it should be more than good enuf for me.

hi carlover76,

actually i dun feel anything driving the same model as a taxi. it makes me feel good, as there r more on the road, it means more reliable (taxi has very high mileage usages), more common parts available at lower prices (bulk discount when bringing in parts from overseas).

if u think tat way, wat abt people who owns a $200k merc also being used as taxi? [laugh]

cheers

Ya, but if taxi model is the same as passenger model then it will be quite pissed off for owner who buy the same car as their own ride.

Power will be different as taxi is using turbo-diesel with higher capacity engine whereas passenger is petrol powered and lower capacity engine.

That really downgrades the value and class of the car.

Do you own the same Merz which have been using it as taxi now? If you have then, I can understand your point of views, you sure they are happy that the same model has been used as taxi as people can pay $2.80 to sit on it but they have to pay $200K to own it.
