How long do you wish to stress your oil?

If you ask Genie, he'll tell you any oil will last 10k as long as you don't redline your engine frequently. [:)]

haha...more than 10k...maybe 12k

i just did a search on BITOG, a Toyota did only 3000miles on CLTR and TBN=4.0. His pattern of short trip dirving (5km)is very similar to mine...

seems like Schaeffer might be a better bet...but there are no UOA with the same short trip driving conditions as me.

If u dont have any oil sitting in your store as a stand-by, u sud get 1 for your next oil change.

I got 2 bottles although I already have 12 qts of RP sitting in my store. [confused]

I guess cos it's such a good deal. [thumbsup]

Was there at abt 6pm & saw 3 shelves stacked with it. Can't quite remember how many bottles were there though.

What do u mean "hope it works"? Of course it will work. It's more than enough for the normal family car. [thumbsup]

At that price, I just couldn't resist getting 2 bottles. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Hi Glyuen.

I dont u'stand the TBN thing but does it mean that the oil is only good for abt 5k km? Very unusual for a fully syn oil nowadays. Now even mineral can easily last 10K km.

Was it the same oil sold here? A 5w40 fully syn oil? Anyway since it's so cheap, I was actually thinking of changing the oil every 5K km anyway.

If it's confirmed that it only lasts abt 5K km then I change every 5K km for sure.

I also drive a toyota.

Yeah. Now he pushing 30wt oil to prevent pple from getting from Giant again cos he lost the fight for the 40wt oil.

I doubt his 30wt oil will b good price. He just up to his old tricks again. Also now he use different nick again.

U know what they say about pple with many names. They have so many for a reason. [sly]

I believe the cxxxxxe you're refering to in BITOG is the "SJ" version. But now selling in Giants is the "SL" version, which is a better and more updated engine oil. nod.gif Should not be a problem going for 10K OCI.wink.gif

Nevertheless, due to my small oil sump capacity which is only 3 litres, I think I'll go maximum 8k only, somemore the oil on offer is soooo economical. thumbsup.gif

I've been using CLTR on my 5 yrs + Octavia for abt 4 years now. Oil sump 4L.

The car is serviced at 15'000km interval.

No noticeable engine problem whatsoever.

Car still running great.

For most of us non-hardcore trackie, I believe we shoud just go for normal regular servicing recommended by the manual. In my opinion, going for shorter service intervals just because CLTR is cheap is a waste of money.

I can't help but have to agree with you on this. [nod]

I was about to do an oil change this monday cos I just bought CLTR & itchy to try, although I only clocked >6K km, but I just whacked my car last night & again this morning [drivingcar] & it's still so smooth, I just can't see the logic of throwing away the RP still in my crankcase. [rolleyes]

I'll prob use the RP till the oil has reached the usual 10K km b4 I do the servicing.

Then i'll have the chance to test the CLTR.

I think it all boils down to personal preference and driving patterns ba. wink.gif
