Rattling Sound

My car give a rattling sound when I start off at low rpm and would dissapear after that. But once at low rpm or speed, the sound would come back. I suspect that it would come from the undercarriage and checked the cat heat shield but it is still intake.

Any other idea as to from where this sound might come from. More like the sound when your car is driving at a low speed but at a hight gear. Even while going up slope at 2nd gear, the sound would reappear again.

Help please.

You can try Man Exhaust at Sin Ming....but best is you go to your regular mechanic and hoist up to check it first, sometimes, a little prying and bending will solve the problem and it will be free...thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif...you just need to buy your mech a drink...thumbsup.gif

in that case, it could be those 'rubber' doughnut, that hangs the exhaust pipe onto the lower under carriage, drop off, broken or the pipe got unhook from it wink.gif shouldn't be ex for those rubber doughnut, usually a few $ wink.gif

could also be the engine mounts. But it's hard to say. Anything can be rattling. Better get it checked before it worsen.

my 2 cents

Well I guess I better update my findings.

Actually, the rattling sound was neither from the exhaust (checked with Man exhaust and even change to a straight through cat from him) nor the engine mount. It came from the timing belt. How was it possible.... the tension for the timing belt was insufficient. I did replace the belt for my 60k service and only after I have checked with Man and did my own that I send back to my mech and have him throughly checked. Confirmed the cause and now driving hapily.

Guess there was a thread about rattling/vibration after changing the belt, I advise the owner to check the tension belt.

Thanks all for the advise and help.
