Does Bikers deserve better respect?

Took delivery of my 600cc, 183kg, 98 BHP, bike last week! Really put a GRIN on my face during the weekend. [sly][sly] , Fun factor is very good! So decided to ride yesterday to office. In the morning, at the tampines traffic light junction, i came from behind and stop in between a white altis on my right and a cab on my left. Was half a bike lenght in front of the altis.

Altis inch forward to be side by side with me and closed his gap between us. He was so close I can rest on feet on his bumper. I did nothing to upset him. Dont think he exited with me along PIE. Light turn green and he sped off and cut into the centre lane. On the next traffic junction decided to stay behind. Was tempted to let him smell smoke but decided not to. Been riding since 1988. Honestly, not much changes when it comes to the safety of bikers from other road users.

I drive too, but when i ride, it's very different, when a roaduser is filtering right, chances are they will let me go first if i am driving but if I am riding, most of the time, they can see me coming, but they just go ahead. Hope I am wrong but there are alot of other incidents from vans to bus to cars and trucks.

I am neutral, but let me know, why are there drivers whom feel that bikers deserve less respect?

Maybe the Altis thinks that you have committed a traffic offence when you squeeze between her and the taxi?

If I can recall, for the longer broken white line near the traffic lights, vehicles are not suppose to either overtake or change lane.

Congrats on getting your new ride! Let me guess, Frazer 6 or Hornet?

One thing I've learnt after picking up riding, is never to insist your right of way. Most drivers don't show respect to riders on the roads, be it delibrately, or they didn't pay attention to the "smaller" bikes.

Maybe all new drivers should be taken on a pillion ride before they are allowed to collect their licence!

I believe that respect must be earned....and many bikers(not all) have damage this goodwill consistently . A good real-time example is seen daily at the causeway.

It's just "too bad " for the rest of the apples.

Supersonic

Respect is earned not given.

If you are riding between lanes, first thing to do is stop doing it.

Err... I don't mean the stop line.

As you travel on the road, broken white lines acts as lane separators. But as you approach a traffic junction, the white portion of these lines will be "longer" ( longer broken white lines ). These are the ones in question and not many people actual noticed them.

wow....the hp is more or on par with any 1.5 cars....i think that's y the altis is not too happy. paid little but get hp nearly as much as his...laugh.gif, anyways, all roadusers deserve a respect except for those cars who thinks he drives a tank on first lan, a bike who thinks he's the fastest on first lane and a pedestrian who thinks he's the king while crossing the zebra line talking on the handphone....these ones,....can't say anymore....after kenna banned....

Side track alittle bit.. No refering to you.

IMO most biker like to either travel in between both lanes. There was many case like, you overtake pass this bike and come to a traffic light (red) he park infornt of u agian. -.- which need to overtake him 2 times.

I remember there was once i was heading to Downtown East from tamp. As u know pasir park there have only 2 lane. this biker actually ride on the center lane -.-, he slow down the whole traffic and dun even bother. He wanna play life i play with him, so i just wack pass him lor.

At times is not i dun respect biker.. but some think they got rat bike.. some think their bike width is 2 times of a benz rolleyes.gif

Ya agree, not very safe while moving ang squeezing through traffic, but it's squeezing throught traffic that's why life are save by motorbike paramedics. Squeezing throught traffic by bikes is the same anywhere in the world, dont think there is a right or wrong here, it's a matter of practice, i think...

Ya, agree, all road users have their share of bad apples. And ya, 98 BHP for a 183kg bike is pretty impressive. A pro can do 100 in 3.44sec, think people like me can do it in 5 sec, will try if i have the chance....
