HANKOOK RS-2

I just had my tires rotated and they look pretty good still. The wear rate is good considering that my car is heavy and I do take corners a little faster than normal.

Took it for a ride up to Malacca and I'd have to say it instills confidence and good grip. On the way back, there was some rain. In fact, closer to Singapore, there was more rain and the tires gave very good and sure feedback eveng at 160kmh. Went up NSH with a car on AD07s and they both performed admirably. Unless its a race situation, its difficult to tell the difference between the two tires in the dry.

I am eyeing the S1Evo, but it seems that its more performance comfort based rather than race performance based for the RS2. Noise is a big difference between the two I believe ;)

Cheers

He is fine. his car suffer minor dents.

i consider it expensive in the sense that its korean made and the fact that i could buy other jap made tyre at a cheaper price or other cheaper korean/taiwan alternatives.

A couple of mths back when i'm still considering V8 among some other tyres such as kumho KU31, falken ST115 etc. a friend of mine asked me and i told him V8 is worth a try if he doesn't mind the slightly higher price. he took my suggestion and get the V8 (its was called Blackbird V2). barely 2 weeks after the change, his tyre skidded and had an accident.

he called and asked me how come V8 so lousy, i also dunno wat to tell him.

i take into account his experience plus my initial thinking tat V8 was was not cheap, i decide to give it a miss.

bro, i think ur fren got into a minor accident coz his new tires weren't scrubbed in yet... the tires might still have the lubricant on the threads to allow removal from the tire mould from factory.

usual advice for new tires is to go easy for the first 500-1000kms to scrub in the rubber...

just a thought...

Just found out from a fellow driver on RS2s that his tires are almost gone at 18,000km. No tracking, No NSH runs...etc.

How come such big difference on the same set of tires on the same car? Driving characteristics aside. Are QC issues very different? or is the manufacturing process different from batch to batch?

what car is that?

could it be that his car is heavier

the roads that he travels regularly is unusually "rough"

like to do late braking?

its surprising too...some oF RS2 driver 30,000km still running.

can tell me whats the nick of the bro and i can ask him to let me check it and verify the high wear?

Once you're almost done with your RS-2, do let me know cos I'll be on the lookout for 2nd hand tires for my drifting and your 225/45/17 sizes are just right for me.

Hi Bro,

I'm on R-S2 now as well but time for replacement. Toying of switching to S1 Evo but will prob miss the great dry grip of R-S2.

Hi there,

What was your milage on the RS2s? I just did another run back from KL on the NSH with a 3 passengers and a full boot. Very good grip and more than decent in the rain/wet. Of course when it started to pour, I didn't dare to take chances with oter people's lives.

If you are using the S1Evos, let me know how good it is in terms of noise and comfort? Grip should be decent too, but how much different, keep us informed?

I did 40k+ km on first set of R-S2. Lots of running to Ipoh and back on NSHW. I threw them out when I had ~40% thread left, better safe than sorry as it rains quite a fair bit along the HW sometimes. Want to ensure that there is sufficient thread to drain the water
