EventH 1st Gear May 20, 2006 Share May 20, 2006 KS mah ... like the 5star and 6star hotel ratings. I think the idea is that the stars are relative to the other of their own products.

EventH 1st Gear May 20, 2006 Share May 20, 2006 (edited) 225/40R18 Change compound .... like that also can? I thought change FL451 to 452, RT215 to RT615. The old ZIEX 326 also had a repacement 329 in Japan and US. Edited May 20, 2006 by EventH
Robertoon Neutral Newbie May 20, 2006 Author Share May 20, 2006 change of compound is common lah...Like why F1 thailand and Germany is difference, also compound different....AD07 have 2 compound in Singapore Road too....
EventH 1st Gear May 20, 2006 Share May 20, 2006 (edited) Even if the tyres are manufactured in the same country got difference? But why change compound for a EOL product 451 that is replaced by 452. Just stop producing and clear stock cheaper right. AD-07 seems to be losing the clout ... maybe it rained too much for the last 2 months. EventH 1st Gear June 14, 2006 Share June 14, 2006 Real world review of the RS-2 from M'sia http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/sho...ead.php?t=92348
Saabretooth 2nd Gear June 14, 2006 Share June 14, 2006 I agree with some of the descriptions of the RS2 reviewed by this guy. Dry Grip. Awesome. Corners and holds like glue, but glue does slide.... so there is abit of the rear tires feeling moving out. It does go soft and mushy, I can even smell it sometimes after a hard drive. Its so sticky that I increase FC on normal driving basis. But when it comes to entering and exiting corners, it will hold the line. Then again I have a heavy conti FWD conti car. Its got enough power to pull it out of the curve. Wet grip, not as bad as he makes it sound but I don't push the car during wet weather. not a smart thing to do. I do feel resistance when hitting pools of water as compared to F1s where it just slices through. Its noisy, like the buzz of airplane engines on a 747. Saabretooth 2nd Gear June 15, 2006 Share June 15, 2006 So far looking good. I don't really drive crazily with hard stops and stuff. I do hope they last beyond 25k though. now its about 5k already and its still looking good. If we have sedate driving, it'll probably do better than 30k, then again, why buy these tyres for sedate driving? ;)

Nismo Neutral Newbie June 15, 2006 Share June 15, 2006 Any brother here used Hankook RS-2. Can comment on the performance... Im givin thumps up up up for these tyres... I tink they perform even better then AD07... not putting down AD07.. yes AD07 are really wonderful tyres in the dry.. and i tink RS-2 is as good or if not almost better then AD07. Dry road - Grips to the ground like nobody's business... really sticks man... Wet road - High silica compound makes it better in wet handling then AD07 by quite alot.. Have driven in both tyres before... i tink i love both AD07 and RS-2 equally... Price wise... RS-2 is just a tad cheaper then AD07.... not much difference... But tyre wear is fast... i guess its norm for street race tyres... softer compound both AD07 and RS-2 wear at about the equal rate.. Ran on BF goodrich g-sports b4 too.. surprising not bad grip but not comparable to both mention above... but it last a damn long long time... very little wear... Limlien Clutched June 20, 2006 Share June 20, 2006 (edited) Let me give my reviews of the Hankook tires that i have used before. I have used the K104 Ventus sports and RS2 tires so far. For K104, Wet grip is superb! Dry grip is rather good. But it will still not be that good for dry grip when compared to RS2. K104 preform rather good when it is not too hot and when the tire is about to be finished, you will feel that the tire does not have any grip at all and it is slippy. I have managed abt 45k on this tire. For the K104, there was once when i hard corner and it hit the white line divider line (not those dash one, one complete long line) and the tire skidded, but only for the short while when it hit the white line, after which the tire continue to grip and i managed to pull the car back in lane. If i were to used any other non-preformance tire, i think my car will be in the scrapyard. I may sound ridicules but these are what i have experience. For this tire i have not used for Malaysian road and i normally travel at speed of about 110 to 120 THEN, in Singapore. For RS2, Dry grip is very good and for the wet, it lose out to K104, but i will say that for both the tire i have tried, can really take good corners. For RS2 you will need to warm the tires adquately before you can feel that the tires really stick on the road. How do i know? The steering wheel started to feel heavier and the directions response from the tire is instantly. I drive into malaysia very often when i change to this set of tires and recently just last Sunday night when i was on the north-south highway on the way back from Genting there is quite a heavy downfall somewhere between Malacca and Genting, those when you cannot really see the road very well, need to use highbeam and fog lights to drive, but the tires is good on the wet. I drove constantly at 110 and i dont have the aquaplanning feel (i think if you hit big puddles of water, any tires will also not grip), the tires still stick to the road. But when the tire is not adquately warm up, the grip will not be that good. I have managed on my car max speed of about 160 and the grip is still good. This is quite a difficult to understand tire. I drive a light weight japanese car with hard coilovers and initially i pump it for 240. When i first use it i find that there aint any grip at all and the car will slide when i brake hard. The compound of the tires maybe soft, but mind you, it is a rather hard tires, as in the flex is so little. I have two nails poke into the tires and both the nails just bend and not poke straight into the tires (This is how hard the tires are built) The nails were discover when i go to Nigel workshop for brake pad change and to rotate tires, those familiar with TCS forums will know him. Re-pump my tires at abt 210 to 220 and i find that the grip comes back. What the above two sentences meants is that the tire is built more for heavier cars and not for my light japanese car with hard coilovers. When you feel you are not experiencing the grip i will say do try to lower slightly the air pressure when you are driving a 900-1.1 ton car. It is also very important for the suspension to be not too hard for the tires to preform. Coz if there is not much free play on your sus, most tires also will skid. So far i have used abt 10-15k on the tires and the wear rate is rather good. I have just rotated the tires. I do experience noisness for this tire, but only when i encounter certain road. I would say it is reasonably noisy but not till the extent of irriating. For the price and the performances of the tires, i will still say i will still buy RS2 for the next change. Erm, presently i have a set of rather new K104 abt 90% tire wear, anyone keen to try the tires can buy from me at a reasonable price? 16". Call me at 94522168. If too low i will use it onces my RS2 have wear out. Can sms me for those who would like to try the feel of the tires (only as passengers), will arrange only when i am free! keke. Mooscenic 1st Gear August 16, 2006 Share August 16, 2006 For tires, it's always better to change them in pair, if you're unable to change all 4 of them at 1 shot. Mooooooooooooo ↡ Advertisement
