Flight_skoda Neutral Newbie April 11, 2006 Share April 11, 2006 PRAGUE : Skoda Auto, a subsidiary of the German Volkswagen group and the biggest car producer in the Czech Republic, reported an 18.5-percent surge in first quarter sales. Skoda said that sales had totalled 129,778 vehicles, a rise of 18.5 percent on a 12-month comparison. Sales increased across the board for all three models compared with figures for the first quarter of 2005, the company added. Sales of the bottom-of-the-range Fabia climbed by 7.2 percent, of the mid-range Octavia by 31.7 percent and of the top of the range Superb by 14.7 percent, it added. "Skoda Auto is therefore heading for record full year sales," the company said. Sales increased in all key markets compared with figures 12 months earlier, Skoda Auto said. In Western Europe sales rose by 17.9 percent with 74,723 vehicles sold. In central and eastern Europe the rise was 10.8 percent to 44,181 vehicles. In Asia, Africa and other overseas markets, sales rose by 73.8 percent to 10,874 vehicles. - AFP /ct http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp.../202502/1/.html ↡ Advertisement

Flight_skoda Neutral Newbie April 12, 2006 Author Share April 12, 2006 Me think CA can do more indeed . My 4.5 years Skoda is my first conti car amongst my previous 7 rides... its still the best although the signs of aging are there liao. A few of my friends test-drove my car and gave good reviews too. Thinking of upgrading to Octy II... but ... I waited ...and I waited ... and am still waiting. Anyway, I am quite sure SG Skoda sales will go up if Octy II is brought in. Koolaba 1st Gear April 12, 2006 Share April 12, 2006 According to reliable sources from CA, the Octavia II and VRS will reach our shores in Jun - Jul 2006. I will be posting the updates in the forum.
Minicop Neutral Newbie April 12, 2006 Share April 12, 2006 I had been to CA over weekend. They said the Oct II should be arriving around June or July. They told me the price is around mid SGD 75K, normal 1.6 litre only not even the FSI. Final spec and color not confirmed yet.
Koolaba 1st Gear April 12, 2006 Share April 12, 2006 (edited) If you are going to be the first few to own a new or seemingly new product, be prepared to pay the premium. The engine in MPI version is the same as the Octavia Tour. If you are not prepared to pay the premium for the newer design, I would advise you stick to the Tour. In view of the current fuel prices, I would take the MPI over the FSI. RON98 is required for the FSI to reach optimum performance and efficiency. I had an experience with a Golf V 1.6 FSI in Sweden. Topped up RON95 to save cost and ended up with a shortchange of 150km per full tank and more lethargic performance. Citing reference from http://www.skoda.at/files/docs/catalog/73.pdf page 52, there is a remark that accompanies the use of different RON petrols for the FSI and MPI engines. Bei Verwendung von Benzin mit niedrigerer Oktanzahl kann es zu einer leichten Verminderung der Leistung kommen. Translated: With the use of petrol with lower RON will result in the reduction of power. Attached is an excerpt of the specification. This only means the right time to buy the Octy II is sometime in 2007, 3 years after its launch in Europe. I hope Czech Auto will have the cow sense to price the car competitively vs the Astra and the Focus.
Koolaba 1st Gear April 12, 2006 Share April 12, 2006 Let us hope that CA prices the Octavia II competitively, like in Austria. Looking forward to seeing more of these cars on our local roads. ↡ Advertisement
