Hi,

I had the same problem (mine is a galant engine, but under hyundai). After trying all means ended up having to change the idle servo. It's a little gadget that controls the idling (right at the edge of the injector/carb thingy). Cleaning up might help though.

Damned I miss those purely mechanical cars. Just a screw drive on the idle screw and you're done.

Thks for replying guys! When and where do u meet up usually?

Btw, just done some throttle butterfly cleaning. Helps a bit but idling is still not smooth. Actually encounter a few times that car engine died when stationay with foot brake down. I observe that rpm will dip sometimes whenever I step on the brake pedal, sometimes low enough to cut out the engine. So now always use the hand brake to hold car after I stop every time.

So is it something to do with the brakes vacuum pump? If not, what is it then?

Hi Rofy

welcome!!

That is a common problems with Mit cars and it is the servo problem. Had mine changed last time. same problem, idling can be irregular, up and down then sometimes stalls. but after changing the servo, problem solved, but then sad to say came back 6 months later. finally sold the car........I had this problem, a friend with galant had this problem, heard from many they have this problem.

The servo is not very expensive but the damn trouble to change it that frequently is irritating....
