Lexus IS250 or Toyota MarkII???

Mark X is the one to go for.

 

Mark X is using the same engine as IS250 but IS250 is tuned down to suit local petrol. Mark X is JDM and is slight more powerful.

 

Mark X is sharing the same chassis as GS300.

 

Price: Mark X approx 95K, IS 125K

I perfer the looks of the IS250. Maybe can wait ti see if they have the Altezza version of the IS250.

I would take the IS250.

 

- Its a Lexus.

- Has very high quality glove leather seats (Mark X leather is mediocre standard).

- Has a more sporty / sleek body styling (Mark X is typical Toyota).

- Gear selection paddles on steering wheel.

- Mark Levinson hi-fi system (if you pay a bit more) ... there is no option for an ML system on the Toyota.

- Has a higher OMV than the Mark X. A $10K difference in OMV will cover at least $25K in price difference.

- Full agent workshop support from BM.

 

Just think of it, when you smash your car in an accident, you will be thankful for driving an IS250. BM workshops keep a high inventory stock for body panels and engine parts. On the Mark X, you will worry thinking of how long you will need to wait for spare body panels to be ordered and arrive - that is if the PI workshop is even up to handling it.

Rest assured there will be no IS250-look alike Altezza from Toyota.

The two brands have gone separate ways in terms of car design and development when Toyota officially launched the Lexus brand in Japan in 2005.

 

The two brands will still continue to share platforms and engines though.

heard tt mark x uses is250 engine and gs300 platform... but at a much cheaper price...

considering that Mark X is almost $30K cheaper than IS250, both sharing the same engine and chasis.... the choice seem obvious.

me no expert... but if money isnt a problem, i'd definitely get the IS250.. cos it looks damn chio.. and looks very solid.. looks alot like the GS300..

the mark X also looks very chio.. but still the IS250 looks better..

Hi .... SafetyCar here previously from Singapore Galant Club

 

Currently I've driving the Mark X for close to 1 month liaoz. Thumbs Up.

 

UNless you're concern over Branding, then... with every aspect taken into Consideration, Mark X is the Obvious Choice.

 

Anyway, IS250 is no where near GS300 by looks. Totally different looks.

IS250 has a Nice Front but a 'Chopped Off' Back Side without the UNique Flushed In Exhaust Design of Mark X.

The interior of IS250 is Bad. Even the IS200 is definitely much better looking in interior design. View and you'll know what I meant.

Shorter Entrance for Rear Boarding Passenger compared to X. Very Cramp in the Rear.

No Reclined Rear Seat for IS250 compared to X

Boring looking Wood Finished Centre Console plus Gear Shift compared to the Classy Blue Illuminated Gear Shift Console Dual Air Con Centre. IS250 Gear Shift Centre Piece looks like Camry's smaller version.

IS250 and X has the exact Same Engine (Dual VVTi V6)

Above of all, Lexus Logo Looks Good. But still prefer the Unique X Logo

 

 

IN short, I was disappointed when I went to view the IS250. Detuned 204BHP plus 90kg heavier IS250 is definetly not a wise choice for the price to pay.

Many Many more issues to justify the choice of 215BHP Mark X over IS250 (less the L Logo)

Yes... Mark X looks like GS300 cos it's of the same platform.

It's using Dual VVti V6 engine. Same for IS250.

Simple. If you can afford it comfortably, get the IS250. Else the X is a nice car too

 

IMO the X looks more mature, prefer the fresher sporting looks of the IS
