Erm....not necessary...in Australia lots of expert installers...and the kits available....wow...can be better than even stock ones!

3 way sunroofs (auto close, some even with solar cells!).

- 3 ways cos'

1) slide open inwards

2) tilt up

3) slide outwards

So far no stock sunroofs have above option.

Ok

Most original sunroofs open via sliding inwards i.e. into the interior between the roof and the roofboards

Unless the design of the roof do not allow inward, then manufacturers slides it outwards (eg Mits FTO, Hyundai Tuscani).

But the aftermarket ones I'd seen on my fren's WRX in AU was 3way, damn chio!

Tilt, slides inwards like stock (actually interior upholstery all look original!) but then he can pop-up (Tilt) and extends by sliding it outwards! then the sunroof was like a spoiler! CHIO.

Best thing is the roof has built-in sensors which

1) If anything caught inbetween (eg child's hand) will auto stop and reopen

2) If left open when the car ignition key taken out autoclose

3) Optional feature, preprogram to set interior temp, if hot, the sunroof auto tilt open but if sense rain/water close.

4) Paid extra, instead of tinted glass, builtin solar cells, which helps to maintain its own power consumption (auto tilt for feature 3) to easy batt load.

inwards means when its open fully,it slide inside and not protrude out...

but these type also can open outwards partially... [nod]

Its the damn heat.

Sunroof is required in temperate climates because you allow the sunlight to heat up the car so that you don't waste gasoline using the heater to heat up your interior.

In Singapore, the sunroof is a novelty and also a complete pain not because it leaks. For the fact that you don't use it because we have more than enough sunlight.

No thanks. Its the damn heat I don't want. Then there is UV rays. Skin oxidation. Wrinkling. Premature aging. A smart woman will not get into a car with a sunroof here. Only dumb skin deep impressionable ones.

You are 1/2 correct. In temperate countries like UK, sunroof is almost a standard feature because air con isn't. Only heater is standard.

So during summer, the sunroof acts to ventilate the car while driving.
