David325 1st Gear November 27, 2006 Share November 27, 2006 Just to correct all people here, michelin tire compound formulae is all downloaded directly from HQ (in France). Hence, no matter where the tires are make, it is using the exact same mixture. Also, PP2 are also manufacture in Japan. I believe if you can find 18" and above PP2, they are from japan. Ewicong Neutral Newbie November 28, 2006 Share November 28, 2006 after the research, my opinion are 1) cpc2 better than pp1 2) pp2 from japan is slightly better than cpc2 (just abit pricy)... 3) cpc2 better than thai pp2 pp2 (jap) > cpc2 (europe) > pp2 (thai) > pp1 bt i think pp2 only 17 above come from japan... Ewicong Neutral Newbie November 28, 2006 Share November 28, 2006 price pp1 > pp2 (thai) > cpc2 (europe) > pp2 (jap) totally reverse.... hahaha......
Pisces69 6th Gear November 28, 2006 Share November 28, 2006 The rubber compound might b the same but it cud b that the Europe tyre might have silica compound whereas the Thai product won't have it. Silica tyres r far superior in grip (wet/dry) to those without but cost is also higher. I don't think many day to day tyres sold here come with the silica compound. Ewicong Neutral Newbie November 29, 2006 Share November 29, 2006 cpc2 has a softer sidewall than pp2... think pp2 slightly better.... in term of pricing, can consider sport maxx.....
David325 1st Gear November 30, 2006 Share November 30, 2006 Hmm you might be write.. but i'm currently working there and i do see that both thailand, japan and china plants are all running using the same process and mixture.. so if there is silica compound... all shuold have it.. let me check again
